Rick’s playing of the harp during the memorial service for our mother provided a soothing and uplifting ambience that was appreciated by all. Rick was excellent in communicating throughout. The service was loosely planned and he was masterful at adapting to it as it went along. I highly recommend him.
Great music, very professional, easy to work with. Would hire again for another event.
I was looking for a harpist to play live music at my daughter's wedding. We were down to the wire with no one responding, when by a miracle, I came across Tan Wedding and Events. Rick responded quickly with "Yes, I can play for you!" He more than surpassed our greatest expectations!
Rick immediately put me at ease with exact details, what to expect regarding arrival times, playing times and options for music choices. He was very easy to talk with and responded quickly to our every question.
Rick is a professional harpist who was also very warm, caring and intuitive during the entire wedding. Everyone told me how much they loved him, his music and his professionalism....he is truly the best!
From the beginning of booking the event, communication was simple and quickly responded to. Rick and his wife's music talent and the knowledge of the venue (Morris Chapel at UOP) added to a beautiful (stress free) day!
Our family and guest enjoyed listening to harp music by Rick Tan as they entered party and enjoyed lunch. He was prompt, professional and kind. He accommodated my request to play in the area above our pool and water fountain. We will invite him back for our next party.
What to Expect
An audience member should expect to be entertained in a manner that is elegant, soothing, and appropriate for the event. From classical and traditional music, to contemporary and original music, the style and genre will fit the occasion and mood of the audience!
Before they were husband and wife, Rick and Jennifer were two college students at UC Davis pursuing their own studies and interests. Rick – Filipino, Catholic, studying the biological sciences, and Jennifer – English, Armenian, Croatian, Methodist, studying classical civilizations. Two people with separate lives until they discovered a common interest – music. Rick’s piano playing lured Jennifer to sit with him to listen to his compositions, and Jennifer’s classical flute enthralled Rick. Then they discovered each other. Love and friendship grew, and the promise to marry was made.
When it was time to consider a wedding officiant, Rick and Jennifer knew that whoever they would choose had to transcend religion, faith, and culture. They found the perfect minister who graciously worked with the couple to craft words that represented the combined spirit of the couple.
On their wedding day, on the UC Davis campus, with musician friends to play Rick and Jennifer’s songs, friends and family in attendance, and a minister to bring it all together in a sweet ceremony, the couple became Rick and Jennifer Tan!
Having recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary, and blessed with four children, the couple is forever grateful for a wedding day that was meaningful and representative of who they are.
Being in business for over 15 years as Reverend Tan, Jennifer and Rick leveraged their experience, talents, and connections to create Tan Weddings & Events. Reverends Jennifer and Rick now work with a trusted team of Associate Reverends, musicians, vendors, and venues to bring you a Total Wedding Experience!
