Born Mauricio DeShawn Ransom on November 3, 1988 in Oakland, California the Bay Area native was faced with a rough up bringing early on growing up in the streets of East Oakland. Before music became his passion, Mauricio was a star football player playing on the Oakland Dynamites, the same team as Super Bowl champion Marshawn Lynch. He attended Fremont High school as did Too Short & Philithy Rich, and where he met Arty & Fam who later birthed what would become Da Trunk Boiz. Mauricio continued his athletics in high school and was recognized as a very aggressive defensive end & safety for his schools team. So much that it caught the attention of college scouts. However, he possessed a different passion, and instead of choosing to pursue collegiate football, and a chance at the NFL he decided to start making music. Ransom quickly caught onto the regions ever progressive movements & culture growing up and began his career as an artist in 2004. More commonly known by his stage name ReeceDaBeast, he and his group at the time Da Trunk Boiz, became notorious for supplying the Bay Area with some of the most memorable and biggest records during the prevalent Hyphy movement era. Reece, the multi - talented emcee possesses the ability to curate hits both on the mic, & behind the boards as a producer. Alongside Da Trunk Boiz they were responsible for huge anthems including, Cupcake No Filing, Scraper Bike, & All Aboard, to name a few. Not only did these singles capture the attention of the Bay Area’s airwaves, but also led to remixes & collaborations with some of the Bay’s legends in E-40, Too $hort, & Mistah Fab. Furthermore it led to Da Trunk Boiz earning a slot on “The Mandatory Hyphy” tour with Snoop Dogg and JT The Bigga Figga in the late summer of 2006 transitioning into Fall of that same year. As the hype and success continued to grow, Reece and Da Trunk Boiz traveled south to Los Angeles in order to work with Curve, an affiliate of (link hidden) to record an EP in May of 2007. In only two days the entire EP was recorded, mixed, & mastered; however, a distribution deal that was meant to be inked with Warner Brothers Records fell through and the EP was never released. Unfortunately later that summer Reece found himself in trouble with the law and was convicted for robbery. After serving his sentence he returned to his home in the summer of 2008 and began to work on a new project titled, “Diesel Gas” with Da Trunk Boiz. The mixtape in its entirety was recorded at Too Short’s Up All Nite Studios and allowed for Reece to collaborate and work alongside the likes of Mistah Fab, D-Lo, DB Tha General, Sleepy D, Go Dav, DJ Upgrade, Ricco Da Kid, Sirreals of Team Noc, Beat Rock, & FX. With the release of “Diesel Gas” things began to look very promising for Reece & company as they did several shows with Philthy Rich and Stevie Joe at various locations including UGMX in San Jose and Pinkies in Sacramento. Heavily on the rise & with the future looking brighter than ever, Reece once again found himself dealing with the law. While headed to the studio from leaving his apartment located in Lake Merritt, Oakland, he was pulled over by police and was arrested after being mistakenly identified for robbery. After over 2 year of legal mitigations taking place in Santa Rita, CA he chose to take a 5 year plea deal as he was facing charges and sentencing that would have landed him in jail with a 28 year mandatory maximum sentence. After serving a total of 4 years and 9 months bouncing around in between several of California’s State Correctional facilities including San Quentin, Susanville, Pelican Bay, & Delano, Reece is now a free man fully focused on his career as an emcee. While growing up and being incarcerated Reece lost more than of his 30 close friends and associates. Since his release from prison he has been recording with lifetime friend and engineer AlexanderThaGrate at Def Star Studios, DJ Pharagamo, and one of the Bay Area’s hottest producers right now De’La of Traknation. An impressive resume accompanied by some inconvenient run-ins with the police has Reece geared up and ready to continue to build a name for himself, and his brand. In present day he is currently working on an EP as well as a series of mixtapes to follow, in addition to a clothing line that is coming soon. While in the past the odds may have been against Reece today he strives to put the past behind him and focus fully on his music.
I Prefer to do sound checks before i go on maybe an hour or two before the show... This is to insure the best audio capabilities for the performance. I usually prefer to give my DJ a usb with my songs I'm performing on it... But I'm also able to burn it on a disc.

I'm a rapper who has music for everyone and every occasion. Not all rap music has to have profanity. I believe in being creative and telling stories.
