"Kemp’s cool light tone is reminiscent of the great Stan Getz...an excellent tenor-saxophonist, pianist and singer from the East Coast..."
~Scott Yanow, music critic

"Our wedding was a huge success, thanks in large part to Randy and his trio. His professionalism, thoughtfulness, and talent were clear."
Randy was amazing and kept our guest wanting more. It was a perfect touch to our cocktail hour at our wedding. He made our day so special!
Nice for a cocktail party
i am so glad i chose Randy for our service. he was easy to work with, learned a piece of music for us, and sang a wonderful version of Amazing Grace to close out our program. having a pianist who could also sing was just the right touch.
Randy Kemp Trio performed at my 30th Anniversary Celebration at the Norwalk Aquarium in September 2013. Randy was a great addition to our festivities and the trio had a great sound. There were even a couple of songs that people clapped - yes folks people clapped after a few of the songs during the meal. I personally Applaude Randy for making our 30th Celebration a truly memoral and fantastic time.
I had put together a trio for our conference at the ball room at the New York Sheraton for over 150 attendees. Randy and his musicians were courteous, and clearly VERY talented. Just the thing I needed to entertain our clients and workers! Took the class of the event to a whole new level!

What to Expect
Well, this really depends on the type of service provided;
JAZZ: Usually the standard trio doesn't need a lot of amplification and equipment, even in a large ballroom. Randy's selections are mainly inspired by post-bop pianist Bill Evans such as "My Romance", "Bill's Bounce", "Alice in Wonderland", "Someday My Prince Will Come", etc. In addition to performing instrumentals, Randy frequently sings standards made famous by such notables as Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Tennessee Ford, Dean Martin and the like. The Randy Kemp trio has even played themed events where, for example, only 40's or 30's music was covered. The trio also has reharmonized popular songs into a jazz setting by performers like Nirvana, Bruno Mars, Stevie Wonder, Ben Folds and Blink 182. It is important to understand that we cannot cover horn songs (ie Tower of Power or Earth Wind and Fire) without at least two horn players. Also thrown in for good measure are latin and shuffle tunes like, "Girl From Ipanema" and "Watermelon Man".
ROCK/POP: If desired we can cover a specific decade of pop, or even learn a song list of your choice. Our repertoire includes songs from artists like; Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, Elton John, Bruno Mars, Elvis, Nirvana, Stevie Wonder, Doobie Brothers, Pink Floyd and more. Depending on the songs requested there may be additional pieces (instruments) needed.
Randy Kemp is an accomplished vocalist, pianist, saxophonist and music producer. Recently his studio project The Weather Service has released a few different jazz albums, which range from originals to covers of pop songs. The Randy Kemp Trio has performed all over the country for weddings, corporate events, fairs, government events, and more.
Primarily, Randy performs jazz with his trio at weddings, corporate events, holiday and family parties.
Randy has a small network of musicians that can handle any job.
"Randy and his accompanist did an absolutely fabulous job at our wedding reception. In the days leading up to the event, my mind was everywhere, and I had forgotten to give him a list of songs. He, with coolness and professionalism, came prepared with a selection of great songs and was very accommodating when we needed to use his microphones to make announcements. We had not planned an actual dance, but people loved his music and began an impromptu dance as other guests ate and talked. I would recommend him to anyone for any event and plan to keep his name on my list for future events as well."

"We had Randy with his trio (bass and percussion) for a 50th anniversary party. They far exceeded our expectations in terms of musical quality, friendliness and professionalism. They were a pleasure to work with. I had some general requests for musical selections and they were perfect with that. Many guests came up to me marveling at the music and thinking I was a genius for finding them. I would 100% recommend them to others. They really made the party into something much greater than it otherwise would have been. And since they seem to be very reasonably priced, I just might have to create some other occasions so I can hire them again!"

"Randy was Awesome!!! I am so happy that Randy was able to play at our event. Randy was easy to work with and he is TALENTED. Thank you Randy for making our EVENT a TRUE professional experience. I think the Nowalk Aquarium would like to recommend Randy for other events."
