Ramona

Ramona will attend your event adorned in an authentic and exquisite belly dance costume carefully selected for your theme. Ramona executes her performance with grace and versatility - improvising and interacting with audience members as appropriate and providing a lively energy burst to any event. Ramona is available for solo performances or with live professional musical accompaniment (based upon availability). Other options include specialty themes (birthdays, engagements, holidays) and the use of 'props' such as swords, 'wings', finger cymbals, canes, candelabra (shammadan), peacock fans, and more. Audience members are left with the sense of vitality, excitement, mystery and wonderment.

Ramona has an extensive background in dance, having begun her studies in classical ballet, jazz, modern, and contemporary types of dance. She operated her own dance school for a few years into her early twenties, all the while continuing her own path. She’s studied and performed alongside with renowned artists and companies, such as KIDCO from Victoria, Constantine Darling, Lynda Raino, Santa Alois, at York University with Fanny Guryhab, Les Ballet Jazz, The Danny Grossman Company, and The Royal Winnipeg Ballet. As an adult, she studied theatre and obtained a diploma in acting, having performed and participated in wide range of productions. She also choreographed large-scale community theatre musicals, such as The Wizard of Oz and West Side Story. During this exploratory and creative time, she also immersed herself in studies of contact improvisation, scene analysis, theatre history, stage make-up, voice, production, mask making, and European clowning.

Shortly after, Ramona moved to Vancouver Island and continued to study bellydance with Lynette Harper and other well respected dance artists; such as Sarita Mileta, Magdy El Leisy, Yousry Sharif, Dalia Carella, Suhaila Salimpour, Hadia, Yasmina Ramzy, Jalilah, Ragia Hassan, Sharon Kihara from Bellydance Superstars, and many more. A couple of years into her studies, she began to perform at local festivals, restaurants, and resorts.

More recently, Ramona has continued performing for luxury hotels and resorts, such as the Empress Hotel, Westin Bayshore, Hotel Vancouver, and regularly appears at Festivals, restaurants for ‘Greek Nights’, private parties, theatre productions, and offers specialty ‘Diva Party’ packages for all ages and abilities. For a couple of years, she toured with Pavlo, Master of the Mediterranean Guitar, and his ensemble. During this time, she was also a feature performer with Maharaja Cruises on Carnival Cruise Lines.
