Rahshad Muhammad born in San Francisco California began his music quest at the age of ten in Roosevelt elementary in Compton California where he obtained his first trumpet and played through elementary. Then at Carver junior high in Los Angeles, and in high school, and graduated from Fairfax High in Hollywood California. He went on to perform with the El Camino JC Big Band and eventually transferred to CSULA as a Performing Arts major. With the personal demands of family commitments after three years he had to stop. However as a result of the talent that he had mastered to this point it has allowed him to perform with artist such as Stevie Wonder, Tina Marie, Horace Silver, Whitney Houston, George Clinton and many others. He has studied under master trumpet players such as Jane Sager, Charlie Davis, and Noland Shaheed. He has studied the tool of his trade to perform melodic passages with the smoothness of great ballad singers such as Luther Van Dross, Michael Jackson, Ronald Isley, Teddy Pindergrass, and more. The style of his music borrows both from the great trumpet players of the past such as Miles Davis, Donald Byrd, Clifford Brown, Blue Mitchel, and from the present Tom Brown, Herb Albert, Chuck Mangioni, and many others. With this great blend of influences he has developed a unique soulful and passionate sound with a funky edge that is sure to move your feet.
