Overview

As long as I can remember I have wanted to be a chef, I just didn’t always know it. My earliest memory is of my Paternal Grandmother cooking in her kitchen. I vividly remember not only the food we ate but the happiness I felt when we ate. It was these formative years that I learned what later became my overall philosophy for food. “Food Unites” You may not remember every detail of the most important meals of your life, But you remember with exacting detail the people you were with. I grew up with not only a passion for food, but the stories it tells. I didn’t always know I was going to be a chef, But I knew food was an important part of my life.

About

Chef Joe Henderek is a lifelong Massachusetts resident. He grew up in the historical Berkshires of western Massachusetts. After studying Marketing and Advertising at the Isenberg School of Business at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Joe continued his education at The Institute for Culinary Education, formerly known as The French Culinary Institute. Joe graduated in Advanced Culinary Arts and obtained a distinction in Food and Beverage Management. After finishing his studies, Joe progressed on to work in several Michelin star quality restaurants alongside two world-renowned chefs, Thomas Keller at Per Se in New York City and Franc Tessier at Chez Nous in Lee, Massachusetts. He continued his career in the Northeast where he worked at high quality restaurants and luxury hotels such as The Langham Hotel Boston, Fairmont Copley Plaza, and most recently Grafton Street in Harvard Square.

At the age of 28, Joseph was appointed Chef de Cuisine at the Langham Hotel in Boston. In his position as Chef of BOND, the Langham’s amenity restaurant, Joseph led his team to achieving a four star rating from Forbes Travel Guide (2016 – 2017). Before assuming this position, Joseph was Chef de Cuisine at Chez Nous, a Michelin quality French restaurant located in the Berkshires. As well as, Bogie’s Place, an innovative concept of blending speakeasy style with the comforts of an old-school steakhouse. Joe has been professionally recognized with extensive media coverage across the Northeast.

In early 2020 when the world was locked down, Chef Joe took the opportunity to reinvent his craft. After spending the better part of two decades working in a litany of restaurants around the northeast, Joe decided it was time for a change to his career path. Insert the idea of taking the best parts of his restaurant service experience and bringing them directly into his guest’s homes. While the world was trapped inside, Joe hatched a plan to bring the experiences they were craving directly to their home. Now, Private Chef Services LLC is providing memorable luxury dining experiences throughout New England and beyond.

Chef Joe's cooking style is innovative yet simple. He explores modern variations of Mediterranean and Eastern European cuisine with a focus on his Classical French training. He prefers to work with the freshest seasonal ingredients whenever possible. Utilizing fresh herbs, highlighting artisanal components and local seafood, Joseph prides himself in his ability to pull inspiration from a variety of sources to create dishes that are uniquely his own.
