Pirate ship and crew for hire! The Pieces of Eight Troupe, provides entertainment and educational and Christian activities for people of all ages. We provide educational programs for schools, churches, civic clubs, fairs, festivals, corporate events, birthday parties, etc. We specialize in teaching leadership, teamwork, character building, basic life and survival skills. The 1st part of the training is provided on the ground in our pirate village. The second part of the training is provided on the pirate ship, The Promise, by the Captain. Characters include Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Charles Vane, Calico Jack, Captain Mary Read, Anne Bonny, Ching Shih, Grace O’Malley, etc.

April 18, 2019The ladies that came were very nice but with a young group, I thought the entertainment would be more of a show and exciting to keep the attention of the kids. My son and his friends were 6 so may be better suited for older children.

February 25, 2019Captain Jack spoke to our gathering of 50 Scouts and their families. They did a good job sharing historical facts about pirates that were age appropriate. They also did a good job relating it to the Scouting experience by incorporating knot tying and ways pirates survived in the wild. If you have a large room like a school gymnasium make sure you provide them with AV equipment so all can hear.

December 3, 2017Jack and his first mate were just exactly what we were hoping for. We booked them for my son’s 5th birthday party. They were fun, reliable, and great with the kids. My son can’t stop talking about the real pirate that came to his party and what they will do the “next time he comes”. The Jack Sparrow impersonation is spot on - just seamless, really. He looks just like him but also walks and talks just like him too! The best!

We provide each client customization of services for their event because you deserve to get what you want! Tell us what you envision!
For 4th and 5th graders in schools, if we set up outside, if possible, our entire interactive play set. If we set up inside, we set up a scaled down version.
For churches, we do a similar set up as with schools.
Festivals get the works which includes the entire setup, which includes, but not limited to, our flagship, The Promise (pirate ship) and pirate village!
Children's Birthday parties are all about fun. We can provide full or customized services.
The Pieces of Eight Troupe, consists of a hardy group of pirates who provide educational programs and entertainment!
We provide educational programs for schools, churches, civic clubs, etc that focus on NC and it's long history with Pirates. We dress and carry ourselves as pirates, but nice ones! We talk about pirate life aboard ship and on land. Our weapons are always of interest!
In addition to the educational programs, we also do corporate events, birthday parties, pirate weddings, graduation parties, grand openings, festivals, fairs, and benefits/fundraisers.
TJ Tally started his journey in 2014. He dressed as Captain Sparrow and entertained at festivals and fairs for free to get exposure and experience. Along the way he has met many people that have been a great help. After two years of traveling to festivals and fairs, the Captain decided he wanted to provide hands on education and entertainment to children. So, he and his First Mate set out building cannons, anchor hoist, ships wheel, etc. and with a borrowed trailer, set out on a journey into the unknown.
In 2016, the Pieces of Eight Troupe with Captain Jack "TJ" Sparrow, set sail with festivals and fairs calling and asking us to participate in their events. Now, in 2019, we are already booking events into February 2020!
We have added and retired some of the original items we started with. As we have grown and learned, we have improved on our equipment and supplies. We now have an enclosed trailer and a pirate ship for everything we need.
Our program focuses on teaching Leadership, Teamwork, Character Building, Basic Life Skills, and Basic Survival Skills. With our hands on approach, it keeps the children engaged while learning! We teach about NC and pirate history and we do it all as pirates so the children have fun while learning! It’s a WIN WIN situation!
Electricity is needed but we do have generators.
If this is a night time event, you will need to provide lighting for us to continue our interactive ship activities.
If this is an event where we will have to set up in advance or leave up after event closes, security will be needed.

We play, via bluetooth, pirate songs and pirate movie sound tracks.
After spending a year going to festivals, we realized there wasn't hands on activities for children. So we set out making props and introducing them at festivals and they were a hit. So here we are four years later with a pirate village and a pirate ship, The Promise!
As for TJ Tally and his portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow, he draws his strength from characters from movies, tv shows and his acting in church plays. Some of his influences are Johnny Depp, Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Charles Vane, and numerous warrior and Biblical characters.
