My motto is: “I draw Caricatures that won’t have you running to your therapist the next day!” I’ve drawn for major corporations in the area, and even for PINK! and her road crew!
I offer traditional drawings or my NEW OPTION: the Doodle Booth!…a fun table top booth where I draw quick doodle portraits in less than 2 minutes per person on 5x7 cardstock and deliver them through a drop tray in the booth, reminiscent of old photo booths. People love the fast drawings, easy-to-keep-up-with size, and the fun of the booth delivery system.
I would love to talk with you and help create a great event for your guests…where their entertainment that day comes with a take-home gift!!

October 26, 2026We had an amazing experience with Penny's Playful Portraits. Penny came out for our annual company Falloween event and was a hit! She was so kind, and her doodle booth caricatures were amazing. Would absolutely recommend her!

Your guests can expect an engaging artist who will work to put them at ease with conversation while creating a cartoon portrait of them that will make them smile!
Penny has been an artist for most of her life, with a focus on portraits. This translates beautifully to her successful work as a caricature artist, who now brings her talent to the GigSalad community.
When Penny draws for parties and events, she creates cartoon versions of your guests with minimal exaggeration and engages with them to make them comfortable and ensure they’re having a good time. She draws them in a way that makes them want to hang their pictures at home and fondly remember your event for years to come.
With the addition of the optional Doodle Booth, she has offered a means of drawing a larger crowd in a quicker manner, with each “doodle portrait” taking less than 2 minutes per person! With the smaller sizes and the fun, interactive booth, Penny’s Doodle Booth has added a wildly popular option to her caricature offerings.
Penny is now an empty nester and enjoying living in downtown Cary with her beloved dog, Macy, who often follows her downtown to draw on the weekends. Her upbeat energy and dependability will make her a great entertainer for your event!
Proximity to an electrical outlet is required when drawing in darkened rooms.
I need a chair or two for the guests to sit in, and an electrical outlet if lighting will be dimmed. If drawing outside, I will need a shady area for the duration, or an awning (or I can provide one for an additional fee).
