Energetic, Encouraging, Engaging, Entertaining.....
With many life experiences to share (from unpopularity in childhood to confident adulthood, being directed to entrepreneurship, single parenthood to empty-Nester, and approval seeker to serenity and self-acceptance), I believe people "can do"! I want to empower them to believe in themselves, pursue their dreams, and generally feel good, whether using words or music, or a little of both!
I started speaking as an extension of my entertainment services. With a background of singing & music performances, I am comfortable presenting ideas in front of others, and will customize my program for you!
Paula draws you in from the first word she speaks. She invites you into her world and you immediately settle in. There is something very familiar about what she says. Before long you are smiling and shaking your head in agreement or reflecting on a thought provoking comment. She connects with her audience like each one of you is a trusted friend. Can't wait to hear her speak again!
Paula spoke at my Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of North Raleigh, on finding your passion. She did an outstanding job with the presentation. She incorporated music, and was really did a great job. I blinked and she was wrapping up, she really engaged me!
Response from Paula C Snyder:
Thank you, Jason. Thank you for the invitation to speak! It was not only enjoyable for me to present, it was a pleasure to meet and speak with your diverse members individually.

I have always been a creative problem solver, whether using writing, music, artistic skills, or logic and creative thinking. I identify equally with my left brain and my right! Through the years, I have worked in various settings and with various types of people, from assisting handicapped children to entertaining our seniors, from market research interviewing to commercial art and marketing, from outside sales to researching and writing legal rationals (requiring knowledge in aspects of medical, policy, and laws). I learn and grow with each challenge, and enjoy the challenges I take on. Customer service is always a huge aspect in any of my endeavors, whether working for someone else or for myself.
Though I have spent about half of my work years in self-directed creative employment, I have equally been successful in team approach jobs, whether retail or government agency. I am known for my persistence & drive, but also for helping others, and balancing life activities with work.
In my current business, I perform entertainment activities of all sorts including speaking, singing/playing instruments (all occasions), writing (music/poetry/blogs/articles, book in progress), and making things (like a line of guitar pick earrings)! In addition, I strive to support other artists across the arts disciplines.
I am actively involved in other organizations now and currently serve as a board-member/officer with Captivating Dialogue Toastmasters and our home owner's association. In the past, I have served on the board of a musicians union, wedding showcase group, and the professional organization connected with a government position. I have published excerpts in Contagious Optimism (inspirational book series), my blog "Staying Inspired", music CDs/EPs/Singles, and an illustrated song/book for children called "Meet Cookie (the dog)". I am currently working on a book about creative living.
My official website has an extensive itinerary of my current business activities & presentations, therefore, I will not duplicate the effort here. Multiple reference comments for my activities as a speaker, musician, vocalist, songwriter, and writer are included at my official website and on my other profiles at GigSalad, Linkedin, etc.
I earned my bachelor's degree with a focus in Occupational Therapy, major in Psychology, and minor in Art from Eastern Michigan University.
In my free hours, I enjoy spending time with friends & family, participating in water aerobics classes, watching good movies, playing cards, and walking around the lake.
Born in Detroit, MI, I moved to Raleigh, NC in 1992 and currently reside with my husband, Marc. I am a parent of a beautiful daughter, daughter of a beautiful mother (Dad died in 1992), and sister to two beautiful siblings. I am also a step-mom and Grand-Mom!
Additional Booking Notes
We can discuss technical information when we talk about your event, venue, and direction.
I do have my own sound system available if traveling by car, but would prefer to use your venue's sound system if necessary (will depend on the program, number of people there, room size/sound, staging versus floor space, etc.)
Generally, I try to do my best to keep people engaged. Therefore I prefer not to use handouts or distracting visual aids during a presentation, unless to enhance a point. (For instance, I am unlikely to talk over a slide show, or read a screen or page of information out loud when the attendees are able to read that material themselves).
I do need adequate lighting to see (staging, anything I might read - like an excerpt from an article or book that inspires or makes a point) though I do have some difficulty and discomfort with light shining directly just above or at my eye level.
My typical set list is customized for the event. If you have a theme, I will work with you to provide music/entertainment/messages consistent with that theme. (For instance - words/songs/poetry/readings of inspiration, or transportation, or American places, or health, etc.) When performing music for listening & entertainment, I often provide song history, trivia, or anecdotes. Sometimes I write my own songs/poetry/blogs/articles to support the message I am trying to convey.
Influences & Inspiration
Microphone (for speaking & adequate for singing)
Powered speakers versus mixer & speakers
A Microphone Stand (floor) - with boom option (if playing an instrument too)
We can discuss necessity of all the above and other options when we talk.
