His music was amazing. He raised the evening dinner to a truly memorable event.

June 12, 2017. . . Played for our anniversary party on June 11. Their music was perfect for our outdoor venue, and well-performed. They were fun and nice. Everyone commented on how good the music was. It was good for background, and also for listening and dancing to.
Highly recommend for smaller (we had about 50) gatherings, very laid-back.

June 17, 2012Orvil and his percussionist Mike arrived early, happy, outgoing and friendly. They setup and started playing right on time and everyone was very impressed with their level of talent. They interacted with the guests took requests (Santana, Sade, Marc Antoine & others) and even performed a few dance tunes. I can't say enough good things about the Orvil Ivie Duo. Hire them for your event! You'll be very glad you did.

Orvil has played guitar for 50 years in many different styles of music (rock, blues etc...) but...there's something about the contemporary (smooth) jazz genre that he loves!
For the most part, Orvil is not keen on many other forms of jazz - It's just the soft, cool, non noisy, no nonsense feel of smooth jazz.
Smooth or contemporary Jazz (which is a radio coined name) is really not Straight ahead jazz...it's just contemporary verity music with a jazzy feel.
