What to expect
When you hire NV On The Rocks, you get more than someone to pour drinks, you get a partner who makes the bar the easiest part of your event. I arrive on time, prepared, and ready to fit seamlessly into your setup. You’ll see a clean, organized bar with the right tools, mixers, garnishes, and menu you’ve planned.
Your guests can expect a bartender who’s professional yet approachable, quick without feeling rushed, and skilled at making cocktails, mocktails, beer, and wine service look effortless. I keep the line moving, the drinks consistent, and the energy upbeat.
Behind the scenes, I coordinate with your other vendors, keep an eye on supplies, and anticipate what’s needed before you have to ask. You can count on clear communication before and during your event, flexibility if plans change, and a calm presence when things get busy.
Most importantly, you get peace of mind. I handle the bar so you can actually enjoy your own event, knowing your guests are being taken care of and the drinks are flowing until the very last toast.
About
I’m Nick, the owner and bartender behind NV On The Rocks. I’ve called Grand Rapids home for years, but I grew up all over West Michigan. Bartending started as a way to make extra money, and it quickly became something I loved. The pace, the creativity, and the conversations across the bar hooked me early on.
Over the past eight years, I’ve worked in both casual and upscale venues, learning how to read a crowd, stay cool when things get busy, and make guests feel genuinely welcome. Starting NV On The Rocks was my way of taking that experience and pouring it into events where every detail matters, from the first drink to the last guest out the door.
Bartending has taught me that the best events are the ones where the host enjoys the celebration just as much as the guests. That’s the atmosphere I aim to create every time I step behind the bar.
Additional booking notes
I don’t require lighting, staging, or sound equipment, but here are a few things that help me keep service running smoothly:
-If your event includes a DJ or loud music, placing the bar in a quieter corner helps guests communicate their drink orders.
-For outdoor events, shade or cover is appreciated to keep drinks cool and service consistent.
Important note:
Michigan is a dry hire state, meaning clients must supply their own alcohol. I'm happy to help with shopping lists, planning tools, and recommendations, but I cannot purchase or transport alcohol on your behalf.
Let me know if you need help figuring out the best setup for your space or guest count.

Influences and inspiration
Phil Wills taught me how to keep calm under pressure. Peter O'Connor showed me that even simple drinks deserve precision. And Lisamarie Joyce? She’s the reason I treat bar service like a conversation, not just a transaction.
Setup requirements
A flat, stable bar space of at least 6x4 ft (unless I’m bringing my own setup)
Access to electricity (if your event includes lighting or bar tools requiring power)
Adequate lighting in the service area (nothing fancy — just enough to see what I’m pouring)
Access to water for hand-washing and quick rinses
