Navigate Our Destiny

I will always remember in high-school being asked to do presentations in front of others. Well I have came a long way from that very first time, as I was fearful and not as confident. When I reflect throughout my own personal journey, I am aware that the way I present myself with words, is a gift to allow the audience to gravitate towards an experience, that could bring them to a place of reflection and encouragement. I have the ability to make you laugh, or make you cry, the key is for those listening, to leave thinking "If he can, I can too."

In 1998 I began a journey of personal healing. At this time, it appeared to be an impossible encounter, which later I discovered was the best choice of my life. Embarking into this foreign territory of healing, brought on much fear, that became a humbling and rewarding experience. After various opportunities that were presented to me, such as treatments, counselling supports, and intense therapies, this allowed me to understand my purpose through pain, and begin to heal with less shame.
Then in 2012 I thought of choosing a new career path that will allow me to support those that have been dealing with various set backs in their life, that I, directly and in-directly understood. I felt this would be a task with in itself, though I was focused and determined to accomplish this goal, and most importantly wanting to support others, as others supported my journey.
After successfully graduating the Social Service Worker Program in Toronto Canada with honours 2015, I reflect, and also understand from personal life experiences, an alliance was formed, and this paved a pathway of healing. Through perseverance and much encouragement from others, I have been abundantly blessed in my career as a research assistant, a peer support specialist, a caseworker, a counselor and most importantly a mentor to many that cross my path
And now when I look back, I recognize how many paths I chose, that never brought me to a destination of peace or freedom. Now today, I look towards the future, knowing I have discovered what healing means for myself, I am able to present this gift to many that are just like myself back in 1998.
