Nak'd Lion is Alternative Punk-Rock Ukulele Band. This trio combines witty lyrics about life choices with Punk-Rock flare. The drummer was trying to push this bio to say, “ Nak’d Lion. Nak’d Lion. Great band, book us, you won't regret it. Bring out the puppy pads. This is going to be a soaker of events!” As you can imagine the manager laughed and said, “how about a no.” So without further adieu an actual bio of the band. Only if you want to read it. I can’t tell you what to do. These guys are good and are my default CD in my car when my streaming isn’t working.

The band is made of a trio of neurodivergent rock stars. They may not do drugs, they may not drink, but they do stay up late and have insomnia. The band has already produced an album titled “Low Dangling Fruit,” at King Sized Sound Labs. Nak’d Lion is composed of, in no particular order, Deva Kox, Carter Nillihcmaster James and JP Riley.

Starting with Deva Kox. Deva is a spitfire on the bass and keeps a great rhythm. Deva can only be described as an elegant yet feral barbarian queen who is a hyena among lions. Deva has a musical background with wind instruments and has recently picked up bass guitar. She finds inspiration in artists that tell stories through their lyrics such as Tom Waits. Although she is polygameros, she grew up listening to mostly varies types of rock, but these days she always is up for some blues music. She has experience with co-directing Mike Maimone music videos and various others. She has been playing in the band since Jan 2024 and continues to get stronger. Deva is self taught, and she adds more rifts to her fingertips everyday.

The next member showcased is the vocally talented self taught ukulelist with a grunge punk style who is always full of energy, Carter Nillihcmaster James. Carter is not just the lead singer, but he plays guitar and ukulele on stage. Carter started singing when he was a child. He found his inspiration in iconic artists such as Elvis Presley and Blink-182. Carter started taking vocal lessons at age 14 and from there he went on to be in 5 different bands. Carter taught himself how to play the ukulele at 22, which he and JP Riley started playing together in 2016. Leading to the final piece of the Nak’d Lion puzzle JP Riley.

JP is the drummer and occasionally back up vocalist and ukulelist. JP has received a degree in percussion, and plays the drums better than Animal from the Muppets. JP has a line of musically talented family members, and it's no wonder he has picked up the drums so easily. JP has co-directed multiple music videos for artists such as Bayside, Mike Maimone, and also directed music videos for Company of Thieves, Barenaked Ladies, Tenacious D, The Baldwin Brothers and Verve Pipe. JP and Carter have been playing together since 2016 at the Barebods Variety Show Podcast in WestHollywood. This trio is an unbreakable force of friendship, laughter and love, much like all bromances and white girl friendships.
