September 15, 2022Absolutely Riveting!
We booked Myles for a show at a bookstore in New Haven, and they put on an absolutely phenomenal show. Myles' lyrics are powerful, vulnerable, and imaginative, and his shows are simultaneously fun and deeply moving. He takes the audience on a journey with his words, and invites them along for the ride, engaging with them throughout. His performance was dynamic, captivating, and deeply authentic. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to book an exceptional performer for their event.

What to expect
Myles performs songs from his many albums and maybe even new unreleased material he’s working on. Myles also likes to freestyle at his shows, drawing inspiration from suggestions by the the audience. An audience member recently praised the show by describing it as a rollercoaster. Myles takes the listener on a journey through highs and lows, guiding them gently through the winding roads of mental health struggles, grief, and recovery from addiction and trauma, all while never losing a spirit of joy and playfulness.
About
Myles Bullen (he/they) (Absentee Shawnee) is a self-described “migratory, songbird, rap seamstress, art poet” hailing from Portland, ME. Their music is influenced by indie rock bands, underrated rappers, spoken word poets, and soft, folk melodies. Bullen has toured the US and parts of Europe performing at music venues, colleges, recovery centers, prisons, festivals, coffee shops, and opera houses.
They have released several EPs, and multiple albums on the internet including their latest, Mourning Travels (Fake Four Inc. January 2022), which includes the single “Ordinary Magic,” and features Armand Hammer’s Billy Woods.
“The intersection of rap and introversion doesn’t seem to be particularly populous—if anything, the genre has traditionally been an outlet for otherwise-shy kids to express themselves more confidently than anywhere else. Thus leaving the lane wide open for someone like Myles Bullen to come through and drop an album like Mourning Travels, which often feels more like sing-songy poetry than hard-hitting bars, with only a handful of soft-voiced, bedroom-confined emcees of yore—such as Otem Relik and Deathbomb-signee Hareld—setting a precedent. With ideas and sounds carrying over from their last record, Healing Hurts, Mourning Travels is a continuation of the journey toward recovery, comfortably translating all the twists along the way into interesting left-turn instrumental and lyrical choices.” – Flood Magazine
