Larry Whitler - Quick Sketch Artist
Overview
I am offering myself as a “Quick Sketch” artist.
Briefly, I am a landscape and portrait artist. The first step in all of my paintings is always a “Quick Sketch” rendered in charcoal or pencil. These preliminary sketches insure a likeness and a desirable composition. The paintings are then made using the sketches as reference.
As a way to demonstrate portraiture art I am offering to do “Quick Sketches” live at your function or event. Sketches take approximately 10 minutes each. I recommend at least a three hour visit.
Please note that I do NOT do caricatures with exaggerated facial features. Sketches are rendered in charcoal and then affixed to prevent smearing.

What to expect
When I do a painting I always begin with a sketch. The sketch helps me create a desirable composition and, in the case of portraits, to capture an accurate likeness. The "Quick Sketch" demonstrations I do for parties, events, activities, etc. are done in charcoal and are similar to what I would do if I were creating a completed portrait. The "Quick Sketch" takes about 10 minutes. I usually recommend hiring me for at least three hours. Quite often there is a line and we have devised a way to "schedule" the sketches so your guests won't need to stand in line for more than fifteen minutes (on average). The finished sketch is then sprayed with a fixative to prevent the charcoal from smearing.
