Overview

It is almost impossible to compare Mumblefinger’s unique voice and style to any other artist. His songs vary from Funk to Jazz to Blues/Soul to Country to Reggae all with a Rock-n-Roll Flavor. Style is similar (but not a clone of) Leon Russell, Dr. John, Robin Trower, The Subdudes, and JJ Cale.

You can hire Mumble as a solo, trio or full 4-5 piece band.

Will do covers, but prefers to do his originals.

About

MUMBLEFINGER (aka Brian Birkes) began playing guitar and writing songs at the age of 12. He played in local bands throughout high school, and then kicked around New York, San Diego, San Francisco, and Nashville perfecting his unique tone and talent.

While playing steadily throughout the S.F. Bay Area in the late ‘90s, Mumblefinger released three CDs on his own, “Wrestling Grandma" "Southern fried n' greasy" and "Nasty Bits of Funk." Songs from the last two albums have been showcased on the nationally syndicated "House of Blues Radio Hour".

Legendary Muscle Shoals producer Barry Becket (Dire Straits, Bob Dylan, Bob Seger, Etta James), got a hold of some of Mumblefinger’s songs and expressed his enthusiasm for what he described as "the best songs [he'd] heard in years." Beckett and Mumble collaborated on a stellar CD – The Beckett Sessions - which sold out and is currently in the process of being re-printed. Since then, Mumblefinger has released several sold-out CDs and three recent (2011 – 2014) CDs.

Mumble took 3rd place in the National Country Music Television Music Video Competition for his song Exactly Like You (see on YouTube).

Mumble has shared the bill with such greats as John Lee Hooker, Leon Russell, Norton Buffalo, Roy Rogers and Chris Cain.
