About
Caitlan Truelove is a classically-trained violinist who started her training when she was nine. She has performed in a variety of settings, including as a soloist providing background music at an art gallery opening, playing in string quartets at university events, and sharing her love of film music in a local cafe as part of a violin-piano duo. Caitlan also has the orchestral experience, performing in venues such as Pittsburg's Heinz Hall and Philadelphia's Kimmel Center, while she was a section violinist in the Penn State Philharmonic Orchestra, the Penn State Chamber Orchestra, and the Syracuse University Symphony Orchestra. Her private teachers include Max Zorin, Peter Povey, and Giora Schmidt. Though she is classically trained, she has experience in Irish fiddling, dubstep violin, and jazz/improvisation styles. Caitlan has also performed in several opera and musical theater pit orchestras and in The Bucket Kickers, an informal contradance band.
Caitlan holds a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Music in Violin Performance from Syracuse University. She earned her PhD in Musicology at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where she also completed a violin performance cognate.
