MNIS (My Name Is Summer)

I like to play traditional house music and love to read a room I am very adaptable to the vibe, but I do strictly only play house music or electronic dance music. I don’t usually take requests but can always try to accommodate the client to hires me, I’m more to happy to take suggestions or a song list before the event to see the direction you are hoping to go for. Please don’t hire me if you expect me to play vastly different music as we can both end up being disappointed with the experience. I offer my services as a house and techno dj because I know I’m good at it!

Growing up in San Bernardino, Julio Reyes, better known as MNIS, developed a passion for house music and EDM throughout the years. He was introduced to these genres at a young age after his older brother brought him to Insomniac events. As the son of two Hispanic immigrants, MNIS was exposed to various tastes and styles, from the upbeat go-getter Spanish music of his dad to the disco his mom loved. He initially fell in love with punk and metal and learned to play the guitar and joined bands before eventually finding joy in house music. His influences and favs include Riva Starr, Claude Vonstroke, Mark Knight, Camelphat, Hot Since 82, and Totally Extinct Enormous Dinosaurs. MNIS played his first house show in San Bernardino with Revival Events before joining the LA underground music collective Poler Nights three years later in 2020. MNIS played at Club Eos in Santa Barbara, and Avalon and Catch One in LA. He has shared the same lineup with Destructo, and has DJed alongside local legends and homies like Dr. Defiant, Y Not Trip, and Doza. MNIS also snuck his way into opening for one of his favorite house artists Laurence Guy, and he’s been living off that high ever since. He truly believes that “House music will save the world”
