What to expect
Her jokes are from her experience living in the U.S. culture shock, funny incidences when she had a language barrier, dating with Americans, etc. Her point of view is very unique and she wants to be a bridge between immigrants and Americans.
About
Ai Yoshihara grew up in Japan. She was far too outspoken to express herself there. So, she decided to move to America because well, feminists don’t exist in Japan. It took her a while, but she found her voice in English.
When she was at her lowest point in life, she lost her sister and biggest fan to suicide. This life-changing experience motivated her to keep the promise she made to her sister of becoming a professional Stand Up comedian. Now, Ai Yoshihara tells her tragic stories light-heartedly with a unique Asian perspective. She appeared alongside Matthew McConaughey in Sea of Trees (2015) in which she was directed by Gus Van Sant. In 2019, she was recognized as one of The Best of Fest Comics at the Burbank Comedy Festival.
Recently, she performed at the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas, the Laugh Factory Hollywood, and was featured at the House of Comedy in Phoenix AZ.
