Mime

Yanira was born in 1982 in Puerto Rico. She discovered her love and passion for “the art of silence” when she was 21 years old in a performing arts group from her church. In 2003 she joined The Classic Pantomime School “Expresion Profetica” in San Juan Puerto Rico where she graduated as a professional mime after a two year intensive course. She has also taken seminars and workshops throughout the years to keep improving her mime skills.

Completely without words, without props or ornamentation, she has seen the positive response of people, where mime can touch very deeply the heart of the viewer. On 2005 she decided to start teaching pantomime with two other friends in “Crysalis Mime School” in Puerto Rico. They were able to open this school and teach this wonderful art to children and adults during 3 years. She has been performing in variety of events, such as concerts, schools, pantomime festivals, weddings, birthdays parties and private events in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Texas, Panama and New York. She also enjoys and loves volunteering in hospitals and performing for children that are suffering with different diagnosis. Sometimes with a red nose or just a white face, she brings joy and causes smiles on people with a simple gesture or silent interaction. There are no words necessary, just body movements and gestures where different stories and characters are created with the use of illusions and great imagination.
