I'm an entertaining piano-playing singer/songwriter. The Windy City Times said I have "the keyboard style of Jerry Lee Lewis, and vocals that recall Tom Waits." Lightning 100 FM named me a "Local Artist of the Week" shortly after moving to Music City. And out of almost 400 artists, I made the Top 16 of their Music City Mayhem competition this year.
I can perform solo, with a drummer, bassist, or up to a 9-piece band with horns and background singers! Available for weddings, parties, and corporate events. Original music and covers (see my setlist below for examples).
Mike was just wonderful. So easy to work with and very helpful with picking the songs
We highly recommend him. We had a blast and he made our son's wedding extra special.
Mike is wild and wooly, and always exciting. Old songs will seem like something you'e never heard before, and you won't want to wait to hear his new songs again. He played for our group at a too-large room, but he still made it intimate. He also checked out the room before the event so he knew what sound system to bring, and took the time to check another location for the band I had booked for a few days later, so they could be prepared.
Mike is the best.
Communicated promptly before my event, arrived on time and set up quickly, and was the perfect volume for background music while also being entertaining for those who were paying attention to the music. Has an original style and puts his spin on requests.
... and he grew up big and strong and loud. Mike's growl goes deep into the music and sets its spirit free. He can do blues, jazz, the Great American Song Book - if he does not know a song you request, he'll look it up on his phone and perform it like he's done it every day. His "Hallelujah" will make you weep.
Here is a haiku I wrote for Mike, when he was a regular at my local music spot:
whiskey-sanded voice
fists abuse the piano
magnificent noise
Price Range: $600 and up
Gig Length: 30 - 240 minutes

I am a professional musician; I am prepared, polite, punctual, and I play to the room. I am never too loud.
If there is no piano at the venue, I have a great keyboard. I can provide a PA for small to mid-size events.
Depending on your event and budget I can play solo, bring a bassist, drummer, or up to a 9-piece band with horns. I have almost two decades of experience playing all kinds of events, so with just a quick conversation we can determine the appropriate set up for your event.
Mike Maimone is a piano-playing singer/songwriter and producer based in Los Angeles.
As a performer he has averaged over 100 tour dates each year since 2007, primarily as a solo artists and with his band Mutts, as well as on keyboards for Company of Thieves and Los Colognes. He has toured in support of Plain White Tees, OK Go, Blues Traveler, The Hold Steady, and others, played late night TV shows, major festivals including Lollapalooza and Riot Fest, and at notable venues across the country, from The Fillmore in San Francisco to the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York.
Entertaining at any type of venue, the veteran piano man has honed his craft and built up his repertoire with over a decade of tour dates, as well as weddings and corporate events. He is equally comfortable in a small listening room as he is fronting a band on a big stage at a festival.
As a songwriter, his unique style and voice are reminiscent of Joe Cocker, Leon Russell, and Randy Newman. Vern Hester of the Windy City Times says Mike Maimone “has the keyboard style of Fats Waller and Jerry Lee Lewis combined, and a vocal style that clearly recalls Tom Waits and Warren Zevon.” His broad array of music has been featured in pro sports stadiums, indie films, and TV shows.
As a producer, Maimone has written, recorded, and mixed many songs that have gotten radio play and been featured on TV and movies. He has co-written with artists in a wide array of genres, and as an accompanist, he has supported singers both live and in the studio.
For solo events I can provide and run a PA, and all I need to perform are my keyboard and a microphone, so all I need is a reliable power source and about 6ft by 8ft of space. I'm easy!

I know a wide array of popular songs including selections from: Tom Waits, Randy Newman, Fiona Apple, Weezer, Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Johnny Cash, Otis Redding, the Beatles, Maroon 5, Jimi Hendrix, Elton John, Billy Joel, Joe Cocker, Regina Spektor, James Taylor, Amy Winehouse, Nat King Cole, Bob Seger, Huey Lewis, Robyn, George Harrison, Sublime, Notorious BIG, Fresh Prince, George Gershwin, U2, Whitney Houston, Angel Olsen, Muddy Waters, Nirvana, Ray Charles, Tom Petty, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra, Ben Harper, Bob Dylan, a smattering of old blues and Americana songs like House of the Rising Sun, random oldies like Whiter Shade of Pale, and I typically know a handful of up-to-the minute pop songs.
I know the wedding standards for piano including: "Here Comes the Bride," "Canon in D," "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring," etc.
I can prepare requests in advance. At the gig I can usually get in the ballpark of someone's request if I don't know the exact song. Disclaimer: I am not a dueling piano player, and I do not know *every* pop song!
I have published over 100 of my own songs as well and enjoy engagements where I am allowed to play original music. You can hear more on my website.
Tom Waits, Randy Newman, Dr. John, Fiona Apple, Leon Russell, Joe Cocker, Ray Charles, Regina Spektor, Stevie Wonder, Jerry Lee Lewis, Professor Longhair, Otis Spann, Cab Calloway.
