I am a sightless lyric soprano and guitarist who's had extensive experience as a performer of classical artsong, music from Latin America and Spain with guitar self-accompaniment, musical theater, music by Gershwin and Porter, and some soft pop and jazz. I'm comfortable singing in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian. I speak English, Spanish and French fluently. My performances are suited for big concert halls, corporate events, lounges and cafes, restaurants, family gatherings, hotel functions and cruises, among other venues. I interact well with all my audiences, and by the end of the concert, we end up having a very nice rapport.
Price Range: $250 and up
Gig Length: 45 - 90 minutes

What to Expect
My performances usually start with classical artsong or arias. I then introduce Spanish-language folk songs and ballads. I then turn to Gershwin and Porter, followed by musical theater and end with some musical theater and soft pop. This is by no means a strict order.
There's always interaction with the audience and audience participation, whenever possible. I sometimes take requests, depending on the type of event.
I'm originally from Caguas, Puerto Rico and the youngest of three daughters. Legend has it that I began singing at 18 months; in fact, my very first memories revolve around music I even remember helping the piano tuner tune our piano at home at age 3. I was, and am to date, the only true musician in my family.
As I began slowly losing my sight, music became my only source of light. By age 5, I was totally sightless, and began studying piano, voice, guitar, the recorder, music theory and ear training at the prestigious and world-renowned San Juan Children's choir.
I began more of a solo career at age 13. I won two Latin American voice competitions between the ages of 13 and 15. I then became a featured singer in many local radio and television shows.
While completing a bachelor’s degree in French literature with minors in music and international relations at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Ma, I was the main soloist of the Boston College chorale.
I went on to complete a master’s degree in French literature from Tufts University in Medford, Ma, and a master’s degree in vocal performance from the New England conservatory of Music, in Boston, Ma.
I have since put on major voice recitals and concerts, performing in Boston, NYC, Washington D.C., Anaheim, Ca, Virginia, Italy, France and the UK.
My guitar and I go everywhere, performing for all sorts of corporate events, family gatherings and concerts I hope to do even more concerts, to obtain an agent, and to sing for cruises.
In my performances, I tend to fuse different musical styles: Classical artsong or arias, soft pop, musical theater, oldies from Gershwin and Porter, and Spanish-language folk music and ballads. I can also sing melodies in French, Italian and German. I perform with pianists, orchestras and/or with my guitar.
Singing with guitar gives me the freedom to perform in more varied venues.
My audience can expect a musical genre that will suit their individual musical tastes. They can also expect a lot of audience participation and/or sing-alongs, whenever possible.
I also possess keyboard skills; so I may avail myself of a piano or keyboard, if there's one at the venue.
I am currently a professor of modern languages at Emerson college in Boston, Ma, while I continue to pursue my music. My goal is to become a fulltime musician and to travel the world, sharing my passion for music with a much wider audience.
Additional Booking Notes
The lights should be primarily focused on my face and hands. i'll also need two armless chairs. i'll need outlets for my amplification, and somewhere to put my 12-stringed guitar, if I choose to bring it. i'll also need a green room or dressing room, some place where i can leave my things and just be. if there's a keyboard or piano at the venue, it would be helpful if i were granted permission to use it should I need to do so. Of course, this all depends on the venue and type of gig.
