Who is Manzoni?
Michael Pasquale Manzoni was born in Brooklyn, NY to an Italian mother who met and married his Texan father while serving in the U.S. Navy. His father's favorite music from that era - Goodman, Getz, Sinatra, Basie, Ellington, Miller - could be heard throughout the home on a stereophonic console spinning 33 1/3 rpm vinyl LP's. The family moved west to Texas, where young Michael was influenced by the guitar rockers and bluesmen of the 70's and 80's - but his father's love of swing music remained. Country music was all the rage in Texas in the 1980's thanks to 'Urban Cowboy' and the Cosmic Cowboy movement in Austin at the Armadillo World Headquarters. Several years and various music projects later, Manzoni has returned home to his roots, rediscovering the jazz and swing sounds from his youth and performing with his good friend and musical director, Eymard Furtado.
