Dave's Three Quarters Fast Jazz Band and Swing Dancers were a wonderful addition to our Annual Banquet. Very entertaining to listen to and watch. We had many compliments from the audience. I will definitely be using them again in the future! Thanks for a fun evening!!
What to Expect
The audience can expect a well prepared, professional group. We dress according to the occasion, from suit and tie affairs to casual backyard party. Group consists of traditional group with trumpet, clarinet, trombone, guitar, bass and drums. We can add to group for specific purposes or form a smaller group for quieter settings.
For the event planners, I usually try to go see the facility in advance to determine sound requirement and space available, parking issues etc.. (If the location is not too far away) I also like to interview client, especially for wedding to determine timeline for the evening and any special request for music. Ex. We have been asked to march guests into party or reception like a Mardi Gras entrance. For such an event I like to see where we will be marching to make sure everything works smoothly. The point of this advance planning is to put everybody more at ease and ensure a successful event.
I play clarinet in the general style of Pete Fountain and do the primary vocal work. I am usually accompanied by 5 fine musicians on trumpet, trombone, drums, stand up bass and guitar. But the band may vary; we can add instruments like piano, vibes, saxophone, singers or dancers whatever would fit your needs. We can also reduce the size of the group to fit the occasion like a cocktail hour or brunch. A trio or quartet for softer events might work well or be more appropriate for venue size and/or budget.
We offer upbeat New Orleans style jazz, Dixieland, big band numbers and music primarily, but not limited to, standards of the 1920s thru '40s. We try to be true to the traditional stylings, making the music recognizable and nice for dancing. For variety, we may also play some country tunes, Latin stylings, Sinatra, and maybe even Chuck Berry song or something by Elvis. Maybe even a polka.
We play for swing dance groups, weddings, corporate/private events, including the State Fair of Texas, clubs festivals, and even funerals. We are in Deep Ellum weekly and you are always invited to come to meet the band. Check my website for locations or contact me directly.
Additional Booking Notes
I have a nice sound system for crowds of up to about 300. I carry plenty of cords and power strips, so one 120v outlet is fine since our power requirements are low. For larger events, we can supply a sound crew.

Elevated stage not necessary but adds dimension, especially for larger events. Usually an area of about 10' X 10' area is sufficient.
