Men of Valour

The Men of Valour is an ensemble of men brought together for the purpose of uplifting the name of Jesus through song. This group serves as the men’s praise team at the South Union Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, TX where the Rev. Michael V. Smith is the pastor.
This group has been singing together for over 8 years. It is comprised of a men who love to sing and fellowship! Versatility is their forte’, where they can sing quartet style, smooth “neo-gospel” harmonies, strong gospel ballads, or take you there with old-fashioned church songs!!! Whereas singing is their joy, these men fill various spiritual roles in their church as ministers, teachers, deacons, and youth workers who serve not only the South Union Music Ministry but many other ministries within the church.
The leader of this group is Stan Pearson, former member of the Chicago Mass Choir, who works to hone the vocal talents and create the precision and spiritual presence that this group is becoming known for.
Opportunities have allowed this group to sing throughout the Houston, TX and Dallas, TX, as well as a special engagement in New Mexico with the New Mexico Mass choir. Although they were brought together to serve the church as the men’s praise team, these men wanted to stretch their ministry further. Being equipped with capable singers for lead and background vocals as well as a songwriter for original music, the group focused on developing a product worthy of the anointing that God has placed on their lives! The release of their introductory CD entitled Jesus: The Album has been extremely well received, and has helped provide opportunities to sing at the National Baptist Convention, the A Gift to Our City Christmas Concert (featuring national recording artist The Williams Singers), and in Las Vegas, Nevada to share the gift of glorifying God through song. The sky is the limit for the Men of Valour!
