Mele

As a soloist, I am extremely versatile in musical repertoire and energy levels, in order to enhance any occasion, venue, or special event. I am very much a "people" person. I listen to the input and read the cues from the audience, which allows me to adapt to any situation.

My vocals are strong and range from Broadway to Jazz to Folk, Pop, or Rock n Roll. I can effectively and beautifully deliver sacred or classical music for weddings/memorials/church services. (I am the director of the music ministry at a church in Tampa.) As a former vocal jazz instructor, I am comfortable performing jazz styles. When singing Rock N Roll, I am often compared to Adele, Melissa Etheridge, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Nicks, and Janis Joplin.

My piano/organ/keyboard skills are solid, with the added special skills of sightreading and excellent accompanying. I can take the lead, or make the lead performer sound great and feel comfortable.

I am also bilingual and comfortable with english/spanish performances.

Upon arriving at the appointed performance location, I seek out the client to review the musical needs for the evening, where the performance will take place, and how best to load in my equipment (if needed). At the point, I (or We - if it is a dueling or band gig) quietly set up, sound check, and then start the pre-show music. I (We) will also visit with people and ask for music requests that they would like to hear during the performance. The performance always has an on-time start, contains minimal (if any) breaks, and will make sure the audience is happy before closing time.

Mele has been performing professionally since 12 years of age. Her first radio airplay at the age of 23. With a BMusEd degree from BYU, she was a public school music teacher, community chorus director, and is the director of the music ministry at a church in Tampa. She was a piano bar entertainer for Carnival Cruise Lines for 14 years. Formerly a dueling pianist for Howl at the Moon Tampa, she has been a dueler at Universal Orlando's Pat O'Brien's since 2009.
