Melanie The Violinist

This is the second year in a row that LCPL has brought Melanie in to play for Black History Month. She is an amazing musician who tells such an inspirational story about finding her way back to the violin. Her set does a great job at highlighting Black composers and is a perfect blend of music and history. She is a joy to work with!!

Melanie performed at Sully Senior Center for our Black History Month Celebration. In addition to her beautiful violin playing, she provided a history lesson with a slideshow that showcased famous Black composers throughout American history. The performance was professional, educational, inspiring, and our senior center members really enjoyed it. Melanie even provided paper handouts of lyrics for the senior center members to sing along, that included an after-performance activity, which was a super thoughtful touch! She is a great host, musician, and educator, we highly recommend Melanie!

We had Melanie perform at our Black History Month event, and WOW — she was amazing! She is an incredibly talented violinist who incorporated historical facts and context about Black History Month into her performance. She was kind, professional, and delivered an energetic, engaging program that our senior center truly enjoyed. I would highly recommend Melanie to anyone looking for an instrumentalist to elevate their event!

Melanie provided a most positive learning & fun experience. She actively engaged with the residents by asking us to express how the music made us feel. In addition, Melanie encouraged us to sing along with the music & even get up & dance if we felt moved to do so. She enlightened us by providing names & background information about notable Black Composers. She even shared her early experience as a violin student in grade school. Melanie left us all on a high note & feeling so elated that we had the opportunity to experience a concert so to speak at our apartment complex without going to the theater.

Melanie is a consummate professional and takes pride in her everyday work. She is strong and prepared, but always willing to flex, learn more, and grow. As she is very personable and amiable, her natural and professional openness, relatability, and approachability allow people who work with her, who listen to her present performances and/or educational and training experiences, or who go to support her find a wonderful chemistry and symbiosis with who she is and what she does in every aspect of her work.
