What to Expect
I have performed at a number of different venues: from convalescent homes to farmers markets, Jersey shore bars to small restaurant settings, backyard pool parties to being a finalist on the NJ101.5 Talent Show.
I own all of my own gear and equipment and I am able to set up to meet whatever space requirements your event may have.
My name is Max McGuire. I was born and raised in Central NJ, attending High School at the Peddie School in Hightstown and, most recently, graduating from Boston College with a B.A. in Political Science. I am currently pursuing my Masters Degree in Political Science at Villanova University. I am fluent in English (obviously), Advanced Proficient in Spanish and Arabic, and currently learning Persian.
Now on to what you can expect if you hire me to perform at your event...
First of all, I have been singing and playing instruments since I was 8 years old. I have a knack for music. While I have had vocal training for a good portion of my childhood, I've been blessed with an ability to pick up instruments and just start playing them. I've taught myself how to play the piano and guitar.
If you hire me for your event, I promise to be professional. But at the same time, music is supposed to be fun. I'm posting this biography here on Gigsalad because I enjoy music and I enjoy entertaining crowds. By hiring me for your event, you will be receive someone who is truly excited to perform at your event and eager to entertain others, whether a small intimate cocktail or holiday party, or a much larger crowd.
Something that sets me apart from some of the other musicians on this website is that I refuse to limit myself to only one genre or decade of music. I've browsed and seen a lot of 80's cover bands and a lot of Spanish Flamenco guitarists. What I provide is a repertoire that spans the last half-century and represents nearly every genre of popular music. While I have a collection of songs I've personally wrote, my primary goal is to perform music the audience will enjoy. I believe that with my eclectic repertoire of 100 songs, I have enough material to perform in almost any occasion. I will discuss my repertoire with you before the event and, after giving my own suggestions, will work with you to tailor my set list to meet your needs. I am also more than willing to learn songs at your request to make sure that your event goes perfectly.
I am a lot younger than some of the other Gigsalad members. While I can't give you the same thing that, say a barbershop quartet could, I believe that with my knowledge of music and, if I may say so, youthful enthusiasm, I have what it takes to make your event everything you hope for and more!
My rate is negotiable, so please get in contact with me and we can discuss details.

Influences & Inspiration
I consider myself a student of music and love to look at all genres for influence, but that's not really what you're looking for here, so I'll tell you what I've been told by other people. My greatest influences would probably be Jason Mraz and John Mayer, both for their vocal talents and also their guitar ability.
