I can provide full drumming services or my fine-tuned percussion skills geared towards coffee shop venues and acoustic music.
I can provide latin percussion (cajon, tamborine, shakers) with my homemade cajon or full drum set with full mics (I have professional-level recording/sound gear) and anything in between.
I can provide a full or partial funk band for your party, get-together, backyard kickback, whatever you're thinking! Price points will increase depending on size of band requested.

Hello!

My name is Ben Moraca. Yes, pronounced "maraca", and I was chosen in 1st grade to play the maracas for my school's choir concert. From then, I was destined to be a percussionist.

Creativity through music is my great passion and strength. Above all, I emphasize GROOVE. Whether its a simple shaker or a syncopated pattern between hands and feet, I live for groove. I have been playing drums for over 14 years among many other instruments. My influence from state-level drumline, concert percussion, latin percussion, mallet percussion, and drum set has made me a reliable, solid percussionist through and through. I am also a talented guitarist, singer/songwriter, producer, live sound, and can hold my weight on bass and keys as well. I know the music theory but greatly thrive in improvisation and live performance as well.

You can book me as a solo drummer or a full/partial funk & soul band: Matador & the Tattered Capes. It is a funk/soul collective who play the classics combined with some jazzy improv thrown in. We also love rock and anything that you would want to dance, sing, or groove to. I play live gigs frequently (seasoned in audiences from 10 - 3000 members) and perform on studio recordings. I also am the drummer for Evernew, a worship band.

My biggest influences and models for drumming: Nate Smith, John Bonham, Art Blakey, Simon Kobler, Chad Smith, Steve Jordan, drumline (rudiments, tempo, timing, etc), among others.
