June 29, 2025Stellar Proformance
Maria came in and was ready as guests arrived, she was unobtrusive and professional. She is outstanding at her craft. She was preforming for a room of professional performers, and she was smooth and had exceptional transitions. I will look for a reason to hire her again.

June 14, 2022The Perfect Touch to Our Wedding
I wanted something special for our wedding when I was walking in with my dad and walking out with my husband. Marla and I connected on instagram and I knew supporting local was the perfect idea. I wish I could have listened to the 30 minute prelude before our wedding, but her playing million dreams by greatest showman and home by Philip Philips showcased such amazing talent. Definitely reach out if you'd like something unique for a special day! Thanks again Marla!!

October 14, 2020So so so impressed
I went to see Marla play an outdoor solo concert this past weekend and to say it was amazing is an understatement. Not only was the event set up in such a cute way, but the wide range of music played was incredible. She played “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran and I would be lying if I said it didn’t bring tears to my eyes. I HIGHLY recommend her for any event, but definitely weddings. 100/10 would love to hear her play any time!!

What to expect
Every event is different so I do my best, when offering my services, to make each event special. I want to work closely with my clientele to make sure that they are getting exactly what they want, but have learned to do so easily and effectively over the years. I am extremely flexible in making sure you, the client, is happy but have a pretty standard format for events. Here is an example of Wedding Ceremonies:
Weddings:
I/My Group play 30 minutes before the ceremony while your guests are being seated (your choice of style- classical, pop covers, etc.)
I/My Group play the processional of the family/bridal party (any song/piece of your choice)
I/My Group play the entrance/walk-down-the-aisle of the bride (any song/piece of your choice)
I/My Group play the recessional (any song/piece of your choice).
For additional fee, I/My Group play cocktail hour (your choice of style and requests)
As mentioned, this is just an idea, but anything/everything could be changed... whatever makes you happy and works best for your wedding/event.
About
I started playing cello when I was five years old... here's what I've been up to since:
I grew up playing in local, prestigious groups including Cleveland Institute of Music's preparatory program, Baldwin Wallace's preparatory program, Parma Symphony Orchestra, OMEA's All-State Orchestra, and the Contemporary Youth Orchestra. These programs taught me the basics of how to be a musician and introduced me to my passion, creating and playing with others. I owe everything to my early educators, especially Heidi Albert, Liza Grossman, and David Vitale.
After high school, I attended Miami University, where I graduated in 2016 with a BA in Music and an Arts Management minor. During this time I played with Morpheus Chamber Orchestra, Miami University Symphony Orchestra, countless chamber ensembles, and Global Rhythms. Each of these ensembles gave me amazing opportunities. With Morpheus, I was able to play alongside professional musicians and push myself to be the best ensemble player I could be. I loved being part of the Miami University Symphony Orchestra, where I served many roles, including: Principal Cellist, Public Relations Chair, and President. With Global Rhythms (a group devoted to "non-western" music) I studied abroad in India under the direction of AR Rahman, composer of film music ("Slumdog Millionaire"). My time at Miami is where I truly felt I had learned my craft and I owe a huge thank you to Pansy Chang (member of the "Pink Martini" ensemble), Ricardo Averbach, Tom Garcia, and Srini Krishnan.
I then went on to get my Masters in Music Performance in 2018 at Cleveland State University. During this time I played in the Cleveland State University Chamber Orchestra and the Cleveland State University Orchestra. I also studied under Bryan Dumm, member of the Cleveland Orchestra. It was during this time that I felt I had mastered my craft. I am grateful for the support and instruction from Bryan Dumm, David Alan Harrell, Charles Bernard, and Dr. Victor Liva.
Having completed my graduate works, I have been heavily involved in the freelance and teaching scene. I have done countless weddings, recording sessions, musicals, and other events. I have been teaching music for the last few years and have had up to 32 students. Currently, I am a Teaching Artist at Rainey Institute and have a private studio on top of my full freelance schedule.
Now I actively freelance in Cleveland, run a private studio from my home, and am a teaching artist at Rainey Institute for the Arts. When I'm not playing music, I enjoy coffee, running, petting dogs, and traveling the country to see my family.
