February 15, 2025Excellent Accompaniment for Memorial Service
Marie did an excellent job as a sole musician at a memorial service. We had several conversations about the music. She was very flexible and quite willing to learn new songs, and also provided excellent and appropriate suggestions for the event. She set up early, which was important because we only had a limited time at the national cemetery. It was an outdoor ceremony and she was undaunted by the cold and the prospect of rain. She played beautifully both the songs we suggested and other music of her selection as guests arrived and departed. We were very happy and the fee was quite reasonable. Thank you Marie for adding to this important event to recognize our mother. We would certainly hire you again if we had the opportunity.

September 14, 2018Great Job Marie
Marie did a great job. She communicated well and listened to out needs. She was on time, performed the pieces we agreed up on, was very pleasant and made my daughters wedding a very enjoyable event with her solo performance playing the flute.

September 3, 2017Perfect addition to our wedding ceremony
I really wanted a solo flutist for our ceremony and was very happy to find Marie with all her experience. We had multiple phone calls in the months before to finalize the music pieces- we wanted all classical. Marie arrived early, was dressed appropriately and played beautifully! She is a friendly professional musician and we are so appreciate her being part of our day.

About
Started playing a musical instrument (flutophone) in 2nd grade. (It's also known as a recorder.) This instrument helped us learn to coordinate flute-playing technique with music reading. Its goal was to prepare us (me) for my "real" instrument, which I got in 4th grade.
I still remember every other band member making all kinds of sounds with their new instruments, except for us flutists. You can't just blow into a flute, you know. We needed a tutor to help us develop our embouchure. It gave me a greater appreciation for this wonderful instrument.
I practiced three hours a day, six days a week during my school years. It takes determination, perseverance, and time to learn to play a flute and be in a school band. While friends were out playing, I was practicing. It began with classical music. I don't regret a minute of it, though. It all comes together in the form of music.
Member of symphony, pep, concert and marching bands throughout life. Currently entertain as a soloist, orchestra, and community band member to share the joy of music.
Additional booking notes
I require ample lighting and a comfortable staging area. Very basic, yet efficient.
I provide my own sound system, if needed.

Set list
Depends on my host's preferences. Many like me to play traditional classics like Always or Amazing Grace as background music during celebrations of life.
I have a variety of holiday tunes that fit in perfectly with special celebrations. .
For those preferring classical music, I have a variety of Mozart, Brahms, and other favorites available.
Many hire me for children's events like princess parties and/or birthday celebrations. Public domain music always suits the bill.
I also entertain at mother/daughter tea parties, afternoon tea gatherings, and other similar events. Once again, music is customized to my host's preferences.
I entertain at corporate events, red hat parties, small home gatherings, and a variety of other events where flute's soothing sounds fit in perfectly.

Influences and inspiration
Acts? Hmmm...that rules out mom, grandma, dad, and other family members. They all encouraged me, but didn't play an instrument.
WAIT...there's my great grandfather! He played a MEAN harmonica. I remember sitting around his wheelchair when I was a tot just listening to him jam away. What a blast!
Other influences: Doc Severinson, Mitch Miller, Bob Seger, Glen Miller, Mr. Ericson (junior high band director), Mr. Kitzman (high school band director), Sousa, Mozart, Brahms, college fight songs, George M. Cohan, Irving Berlin, Burl Ives, many others.
