Founded in 2009, we provide professional mariachi performances for all of life’s celebrations. Our ensemble of music educators and performers appears in settings ranging from private events to large-scale festivals and concerts. We have proudly performed for the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Fire FC, the Green Bay Packers and Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as the Taste of Chicago and festivals throughout the Chicagoland area. Beyond performance, we are committed to serving our community by supporting at-risk youth through music education, mentorship, and performance opportunities across Chicago and surrounding communities.

July 3, 2025Extra, spectacular. Authentic and from the heart the music so vivid the party couldn’t stop saying how amazing they are and asked how they were founded. We are considering more events and host the same band before the year is up.

Mariachi Monumental de México was founded in Chicago in 2009 by musicians who shared a passion for mariachi and a commitment to representing the music with excellence. Under the direction of Jose-Antonio Ozuna, the ensemble has grown from its local beginnings into a multigenerational group performing throughout the Midwest. Its musicians bring the energy and tradition of mariachi to weddings, birthdays, corporate events, concerts, festivals, and community celebrations, adapting each performance to the people and occasion while maintaining the ensemble’s professional standards.
Over the years, Monumental has performed on some of the region’s most recognizable stages. The group has shared its music with fans of the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, NBA G League’s Windy City Bulls, Chicago Fire FC, and Chicago Red Stars. Its appearances also include Taste of Chicago, the Chicago Mariachi Festival, and concerts and cultural events hosted by schools, park districts, and community organizations. Beyond Chicagoland, Monumental has traveled for celebrations and private events in Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, Missouri, and Tennessee.
A defining moment came in September 2026, when Monumental performed the United States national anthem at Lambeau Field for the Green Bay Packers during Hispanic Heritage Month. The ensemble believes this was the first time a mariachi group had performed for the Packers and presented the anthem at Lambeau Field. Sharing mariachi on that stage was a proud moment for its musicians, their families, and the communities they represent.
Ozuna’s work as a music educator is closely connected to the ensemble’s mission. He directs Mariachi Los Pumas at Jovita Idár Elementary and Mariachi Los Huskies de NIU, creating a pathway for young musicians from school programs into university and professional performance. Monumental’s members help students develop their skills, confidence, and sense of responsibility by giving them opportunities to learn from experienced performers. At Lambeau Field, students from both programs joined Monumental’s musicians for the anthem—a visible example of that work.
The ensemble also supports community and nonprofit efforts that make music education and performance opportunities more accessible to young people. For Monumental, a successful performance means more than the music heard in the moment. It is a chance to honor mariachi’s traditions, connect people through celebration, and help the next generation carry the music forward.

We tailor every event with its own specific song list that is appropriate for the type of event. We take requests when possible in the moment, and when possible and with ample time to prepare, we write, arrange and prepare music for events.
For example, when we do wedding ceremonies we follow a specific set of songs that is appropriate to play at the ceremony. During cocktail hour of a wedding or other hall event, we play instrumental and festive music that is rehearsed and take requests. During dinner hour of a wedding or other hall event, we play songs previously selected by the clients or songs that are appropriate for the celebration. We take requests and do our best to honor the requests within the service.
For stage events such as concerts And festivals, we set a strict song list that is rehearsed and planned to cover the entire service. The music includes a variety of traditional songs to non traditional songs.
Microphones and monitors, we can provide different stage plots for different settings
