Our Story
Mariachi Chicana is composed of highly accomplished, all-female Mexican-American musicians, each bringing 10 to 34 years of professional experience in mariachi and a wide range of musical genres. The ensemble is proudly bilingual and highly educated, with most members having completed university-level music studies and extensive professional training.

More than performers, the members of Mariachi Chicana are cultural leaders, educators, mothers, students, and working professionals who embody excellence both on and off the stage. Their collective artistry is reflected in polished visual presentation, refined musicianship, and a deep respect for the history and cultural significance of mariachi music.

Mariachi Chicana is currently preparing to release their first single, marking an exciting milestone in their artistic journey. The ensemble has also performed at several elementary schools throughout Austin, Texas, presenting educational programs that introduce students to the history of mariachi music, traditional instruments, and cultural heritage—demonstrating a strong commitment to arts education and community engagement.

The ensemble was recently featured in VoyageAustin Magazine, where they shared their journey, mission, and the importance of representing women in mariachi in Austin, Texas. In addition, Mariachi Chicana will be featured on Austin’s FOX 7 during Women’s History Month, highlighting their leadership, artistry, and impact as professional women in music within the local community.

Through custom repertoire and thoughtfully curated performances, Mariachi Chicana presents mariachi as an elevated art form—one that honors tradition while celebrating Chicana identity and women’s leadership. Whether performing at cultural festivals, educational institutions, media features, luxury events, or private engagements, the ensemble brings professionalism, intention, and powerful artistry to every performance.

Mariachi Chicana is a fully acoustic, all-female ensemble from Austin, TX, performing both indoors and outdoors. For larger venues such as weddings, quinceañeras, festivals, and corporate events, we recommend our 8-piece group for full sound and a dynamic performance. In cases of extreme weather (heat, rain, wind, etc.), we ask that we are provided with coverage, as these conditions can affect our instruments and performance. Additional musicians and extended performance time can be arranged, and special song requests should be submitted in advance. We are happy to coordinate with planners and venues to ensure a smooth, professional, and memorable event.
