Hello! My name is Garyn Manghera (they/them). I teach private, in-home piano lessons in Carrollton TX.

I'm experienced in working with first-time beginners, as well as transfers and advanced-level students.

I began teaching privately out of my home in 2015, and have since worked with students of all ages, skill levels, and musical backgrounds.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music - Piano Performance, as well as a Master of Music - Piano Pedagogy, both from Texas Women's University (TWU), where I also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for piano.

About

-Philosophy-
With each and every lesson, I am committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment where individuals are encouraged to take ownership of their musical growth. My teaching philosophy centers on promoting a growth mindset, encouraging students to view challenges as opportunities for development and to engage fully in the lifelong process of musical expression and technical refinement.

-Learning Approach-
To achieve success at the piano and incorporate the heart of my philosophy, I commit to following a consistent, pedagogically-informed approach to every lesson that I teach. My approach emphasizes a comprehensive and balanced integration of essential musical skills, including technique, music theory, sight-reading, improvisation, and artistry. I strive to cultivate not only technical proficiency but also a deep appreciation for music and the piano.

My instruction is tailored to the student's individual interests and goals, encouraging active participation and independent learning. To facilitate this, I often incorporate a variety of interactive tools and activities that capture students' excitement and creativity. Through regular performance in recitals and individual projects, active participation and personal expression are further supported, and students build a strengthened sense of confidence and fulfillment in their musical journeys.
