What to expect

Makeshift provides great music. Danceable music. Floor-filling music that will entertain and delight your guests, whether at your wedding, party, or festival. We provide a "one stop shop", state-of-the-art entertainment product that will make your special event the one your family and friends will remember. Our product includes not only wonderfully entertaining musicianship, but state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment at no additional charge. Makeshift offers the highest level of musical virtuosity and professionalism, from the planning phase all the way through to the end of your experience working with us. You can expect talent, great sound, a great look, and a professional experience that will make you feel comfortable and at ease while planning your event.

Versatility: Makeshift plays from a large set list of funk, disco, classic rock, and jazz – all danceable songs! We also have the capability to learn and play special songs that are not in our standard set. Depending on the needs of your wedding, we can also provide background music during dinner or cocktails (jazz standards).

Style: Whether you want a more formal-looking band or you want to bring that rock concert vibe to your wedding, Makeshift dresses the part. We'll make sure it doesn't look like you hired butlers to play your wedding.

Gear: Makeshift brings everything needed for a professional sound and look (yes, how a band’s gear looks is important!). We provide all of the sound and lighting equipment to support any size reception you plan on having. Our equipment is visually subtle, scalable, and it sounds amazing. We WILL NOT be too loud your guests. We also provide wireless microphones for speeches and background music for the rest of the reception.

No-nonsense sales approach: We provide a simple, "this much money for this much time" quote to everyone who asks. Everything else has pricing easily available, why not your wedding entertainment? You give us the simple details (date, place, time required) and we give you a price. If a special request will cost more, you will know up front. You have more important things to do than worry about whether or not you got a good deal.

Professionalism: We will meet with you personally to go over everything, and coordinate with your wedding planner/venue representative to nail down every detail. Our contract and questionnaire are straightforward and easy to understand. We are prompt and responsive to your needs and the needs of your venue. We will walk you through anything you are unsure about and, whenever possible, accommodate any special need you have.

Some other things to know:

Makeshift is a horn-driven dance band, not a wedding band per se. We do not cover every genre or sound, and there may be styles we cannot replicate exactly. Couples choose us because they like our style, not because we’re a one-size-fits-all generic band. Some styles we can’t cover include: hard rock, metal, electronica, and modern hip-hop. If you’re unsure about a particular song, just ask! We are happy to play a recording if you have a song you’d like to hear that we can’t cover.

About

Set list includes: Brick House, Disco Inferno, Superstition, Get it On, Brown Eyed Girl, Low Rider, Jungle Boogie, Play That Funky Music, and many other great dance hits.
