Born and raised in the charming town of Pinckney, Michigan, David G. Maki II's musical journey began at a young age. His passion led him to Eastern Michigan University, where he dedicated himself to the pursuit of musical excellence and earned a bachelor's degree in musical performance.
Following his college years, David embarked on an exciting musical adventure with Carnival Cruise Lines. For three enriching years, he graced the stages of the high seas as a skilled saxophone maestro, perfecting his artistry on Baritone, Tenor, and Soprano Saxophones.
In 2002, a new chapter unfolded as David joined forces with Lady Sunshine and the X Band. The culmination of their dedication and talent was marked by a resounding victory in the 2005 Detroit Blues Competition. Their journey took them to the vibrant streets of Memphis, Tennessee, where they secured an impressive second place in the prestigious International Blues Competition.
David's musical odyssey has woven a rich tapestry of collaborations, including captivating performances with local Big Bands and noteworthy contributions to various community theater productions. His versatile artistry knows no bounds, traversing genres from the soulful depths of Blues and Jazz to the electrifying rhythms of Funk and Rock.
Throughout his remarkable 35-year career, David has graced stages alongside renowned artists such as Peggy Marsh, Liquid Soul, J Siegal and the Tokens, Jay and the Americans, Al Morse of the Coasters, and the legendary Sir Mack Rice of the famed "Mustang Sally". An adept musician, he has seamlessly stepped into the shoes of fellow performers, demonstrating his remarkable adaptability. This prowess has also led him to the spotlight as a sought-after solo performer, captivating audiences across diverse venues.
