With over 20 years of experience, she brings a rare blend of artistry, cultural authenticity, and sophisticated stage presence.

Rooted in the rich traditions of SWANA (Southwest Asian and North African) dance, Lyla’s work honours the essence of Raqs Sharqi while seamlessly weaving in contemporary fusion influences. To ensure a seamless and polished performance, the following technical elements are recommended:

Performance Space
A clear, clean performance area of approximately 8’ x 8’ (or larger) is ideal. The surface should be level and safe for movement (non-slip preferred). Please advise in advance if the performance will take place on grass, gravel, or uneven flooring.

Sound
Access to a reliable sound system with Bluetooth or auxiliary (AUX) input is required. Lyla can provide music in advance or bring a personal device for playback. A sound check prior to the performance is appreciated when possible.

Lighting
Warm, ambient lighting or soft spotlighting enhances the visual impact of the performance. For evening events, adequate lighting is important - especially for specialty props such as wings (LED) or candle tray.

Props & Safety
Some performances may include specialty props (e.g., Isis wings, veil, finger cymbals, candle tray). For fire-based elements, proper indoor ventilation, ceiling clearance, and venue approval are required in advance.

Timing & Flow
Performances are typically scheduled as a feature set or grand entrance, and timing can be coordinated with key moments (e.g., reception entrance, cake cutting, or peak party time). Lyla is happy to collaborate with your planner, DJ, or MC to ensure smooth integration into your event timeline.

Changing Area
A private, secure space for changing and preparation is requested.

Travel
Travel fees may apply for locations outside of Calgary.
