Stilt Musician: to add to the stilt walker, Luciano can play music and sing with several different instruments to add full auditory dimension to the act! Music can be acoustic or wirelessly plugged-in where a system is available. Instruments of choice include, accordion, guitar, ukelele, drums. Luciano also works with Brazilian drumming ensembles on stilts for an incredible impact on the guests of any event!

Solo Music shows: whether on the guitar or accordion, Luciano delivers a wide range of songs in Brazilian style with the bossa nova spice dressed up in beautiful jazz harmonies and warm vocals! Luciano accompanies himself with drums in true one man band fassion!

Bands: Luciano Porto also works with an array of talented and reputed professional musicians. Bossa Nova band is smooth and pleasing to any audience, and when a dancing atmosphere is needed, thumping sambas and forró will lively up any party! Luciano also works with traditional percussion ensembles like carnival style samba batucadas and thunderous maracatu for a short blast of excitement from the infamous Brazilian carnaval! The drumming ensembles are also done on stilts with full costumes for an extraordinary impact on your event!

Team building workshops: With almost 15 years of percussion workshop facilitating experience, Luciano delivers powerful messages within percussion teaching. He has helped several corporate groups create a powerful team building exercise where a team of unexperienced and untalented professionals become a performing drum ensemble for a day!

Children workshops: Luciano teaches regularly at schools, daycares and other children groups. He uses his knowledge of Brazilian drumming and dance to take the children on an unforgettable cultural experience that is both challenging, educational and exhilarating!

A multi-instrumentalist, composer, singer, and stilt artist Luciano was born and raised in the rural interior of Brazil inspired by his father's accordion playing. In 1992 Luciano moved to Toronto from Brasilia at the age of 16 and started to gain access to school band instruments. He stuck to classical guitar and made his debut performance with the University of Toronto Guitar Ensemble in 1995. With an aptitude for practicing a variety of instruments, Luciano came to fall in love with his homeland's infamous percussion traditions. From 2002 to 13 he focused mainly on percussive arts and became a regular performer for Toronto's Brazilian troupes Maracatu Nunca Antes and Batucada Carioca. Simultaneously, Luciano started band projects (Mulambo Groove, Zé Fuá, Maracatall) in Toronto where he was frequently the lead singer and arranger as well as accordionist / guitarist / percussionist and performed extensively in festivals including the Gladstone World 2007; Brazil Fest 2008, 11, 13, 14; Harbourfront Centre (various) 2009, 10, 12, 14 and 15; Carassauga Festival 2008, 13, 14 and 15; Montreal Forró Festival 2015; Toronto’s International Buskerfest 2014,15; Dubai Shopping Festival 2015, St John's Buskers on the Bay 2016 and Calgary Brazil Fest (phone number hidden)7 marks the debut of Luciano Lu solo performance career. Along side his music stage show, Luciano teaches percussion workshops to children and is developing a multi-arts solo show that incorporates stilts, theatrical dance and live music.
