We play mostly original, highly lyrical vocal and instrumental songs on acoustic guitar, bass, mandolin, fiddle, and Dobro. Depending on the requirements of the venue, we can vary from Lowell as a solo artist to adding one, two, or three instruments.
The band arrived on time, set up and sound-checked in a quick and professional manner, and played two wonderful sets of original instrumental music. Can’t say it was the intended “background” music, because although it was unobtrusive and moderately low volume, many of the guests quickly migrated to the band’s corner of the yard and stayed there for the duration of the party. Pro players. Nice folks.

What to Expect
We are a fully self-contained performance. Current technology sound system and engineer, suitable for small-to-midsize (100-150 audience) venues. We can provide music as a solo acoustic artist (Lowell), a duo with Lee White, or a trio, quartet, or quintet with Vocals, acoustic guitar, violin, dobro, mandolin, and upright bass. If banjo is requested, we can do that too! Our genres include folk, jazzy blues, Americana, upbeat alt country, and even a fair measure of Irish/Scottish tunes. A very good way to know what to expect musically is to visit the website. (link hidden)
As a full ensemble, we typically need two hours of uninterrupted access to the venue for set-up and sound check. We can, for a fee, provide professional video and audio files of the performance.
Each of the members of this band has played professionally for most of his or her adult life. As individuals, we have performed in nearly every state in the "Lower Forty", and have extensive European travel in our history. The website contains full bios on each of the "First Chair" players. All the originals on the album "Lowell James Hicks and Lee White... This is a Dark Ride", plus covers of Gordon Lightfoot, Peter Rowan, Kathy Mattea, Dougie MacLean, and traditional Irish/Scottish ballads and reels.
our music is definitely "concert" oriented, with about 50% suitable for energetic dancing.
We need convenient access to 115V AC power for the sound system. We do not usually carry our own lights so if there is need for lighting, that is the responsibility of the client/venue.
