About

Hailed for her “beautiful tone and playfulness, even Gallic charm, to the concerto for flute by Jacques
Ibert.” By The Well-Tempered Ear, internationally known flutist Mili Chang received her Doctor of
Musical Arts degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2015 and Master of Music in Historical
Performance from The Juilliard School in 2018. She has received awards and scholarships including the
full scholarship from The Juilliard School ((phone number hidden)8), the winner of National Flute Association Baroque
Flute competition in 2015, the concerto competition in UW-Madison, and three-year full-ride Paul Collins Fellowship ((phone number hidden)4) at UW-Madison.
A versatile performer, Mili specializes not only standard classical repertoire but also in the historical
performance practice at 16th - 18th century baroque and classical music. Her solo with renowned Baroque orchestra Juilliard 415 with guest conductor Ton Koopman (Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra) received review of her solo in Bach’s b minor mass “…Mili Chang, whose travrso playing in the Credo’s Benedictus was fluid, elegant, and well, just lovely.” She has performed with many ensembles and with Grammy Award recipient and nominees’ such as violinist Monica Huggett, tenor Aaron Sheehan, keyboardist Richard Egarr. She has appeared at the Boston Early Music Festival, , the the Saint Andrew Music Society, the Music Before 1800 concert series, the Gotham Early Music Scene, the Bach Society of Charleston, the Opera Composer Collaborative Project at National Sawdust, and the New York Flute Club. She is also featured in WQXR and West Side Radio. She is now a member of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra& Chorale Taipei, The Sebastian early music ensemble, Bach Vespers of Trinity Lutheran church, and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
An avid educator, Mili has experience teaching in both classroom and individual settings with students of a wide range of ages. She teaches students to focus not only on essential techniques but also musicianship and creativity. She teaches flute performance, basic keyboard skills, woodwind chamber ensembles, music theory, music appreciation, general music, and ear training. She is now on the teaching faculty of New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Coalition Latino Family Services, Harmony program- NYC's after school music program, and two other music studios.
