Bloco La Conga
Overview
Bloco La Conga is an energetic and irreverent drum, brass (& dance) troupe that plays Carnaval music of the Americas. Our repertoire is influenced by styles from Cuba, Brazil, the USA, and the African Diaspora in general.
We offer two primary formats: percussion show and Carnaval Brass Band; we also can provide individual entertainers, depending on your needs.
In Brazil a "bloco" is a street band that mobilizes, excites and inspires revelers during Carnaval. In Santiago de Cuba, this would be called a "conga" (as in "conga line").
Previous Performances include: Long Island University, NY Presbyterian Hospital, NYRican Poets Café, NYC Halloween Parade, Shrine, and Sabor Latino.

Wonderful people! They were very professional - on time- looked great and added a great vibe to the party,

What to expect
Our shows can be custom made to your specifications.
Here's a typical performance :
On cue , our dancers, drummers and brass players parade in, playing your song (for example "livin la vida loca...etc" ) .
The dancers then lead a conga line around the room. We continue with our 30 minute set and then the drummers continue to perform with your DJ...

that plays Carnaval music of the Americas. They focus on Afro-Cuban and
Afro-Brazilian Beats and are always adding in other sounds like Reggaeon, funk Carioca, and New Orleans Second line.
We can march in playing YOUR song!
They are available for events, parades, clubs, block parties, revelry, etc...
The group's members have performed with artists such as Trey Anastasio,
Raices Habaneras, Paquito D'Rivera, Celia Cruz, Ray Barretto, and Albita.
Members include musicians from: US, Brasil, Cuba,
Senegal, Puerto Rico, Israel, Chile, and Panama.
Additional booking notes
We don't require any PA SYSTEM or sound. We are self contained and all acoustic .
We don't use microphones except when client has requested a singer for a specific request.
