May 13, 2023Larry is a great guy and communicated well with us. This review is tough because some of the issues was not LKO's fault. We asked LKO to use the theaters house system, powered Bose LII right and left units to save on cost. We use this system at an open jam we host at this location and when using our passive soundboard, they sound great. Hindsight, pay the extra money and allow for the sound person to bring in his whole set up. This Bose LII speaker system did not work well with LOK's power amps which clashed with the balcony stage lights, causing a buzz/hum during our show. This is the feedback we got from the audience: 1. Parts of the room sounded good, other areas bad, balcony sounder great. 2. When solo players had a lead, their instruments couldn't be heard until a few seconds in the solo. In all fairness, we have a large band with many moving parts. I recommend you hire LKO an extra day and have him sit in on the dress rehearsal for them to take notes. We did have a song sheet with instructions of who sings or plays lead, but we can't blame LKO to know the set without a prior run-through. 3. Certain singers were very loud at times and some vocal eq was off. Could be the room, we don't know. To recap: Hire the sound person using their own system - don't mix and match, pay the sound person to come to the dress rehearsal if you are having a big band with many moving parts, finally, allow for more time for a setup and a sound check before a big show.
