My dad grew up singing with his family at his home. They would gather around a piano, sing hymns and harmonize with each other. Years later, my dad sang with me at a young age, songs that he had sang with his family. At a young age I was very self-conscious singing but definitely felt joy with it as well.

Years later I arrived at college on a baseball scholarship and departed with a degree in Religious Studies and a new-found love of playing the guitar. Two of the guys on my baseball team knew how to play guitar and taught me some chords. Then would come learning to play some of my favorite songs. One year I was asked to play some worship songs at a Bible study and reluctantly did. From then on, I'd continue to do so feeling less and less self-conscious and more self-confident.

There have been people in my life over the years encouraging me, telling me that music is a gift. However, it has been only more recently that I've recognized it as a gift as well as something that can be used to bless and encourage other people. And that I've found very fulfilling and satisfying. One of my favorite quotes is, "Music can heal the wounds that medicine can't touch."

Throughout the years I've been able to lead worship, play at weddings, graduations, funerals, assisted care living facilities and I've enjoyed all the people I've met and look forward to meeting more.
