Influences and inspiration

“I like all styles of music; as long as it’s good” said someone, sometime. True enough, but there were a set of composers that made a big impression on this bass player;

The cool, modal jazz sounds of Mile Davis, circa 1958;
The bossa nova songbook of Antonio Carlos Jobim,
The modern latin jazz fusion of Chick Corea;
The funky modern interpretations of Herbie Hancock and his Headhunters;
The soul jazz sounds of Grant Green, Jimmy Smith, Dr. Lonnie Smith and John Scofield,
The modern fusion work of Joe Zawinul in Weather Report and
The rich compositions by American Songbook composers like Cole Porter, Rogers & Hart, Sam Rivers, Duke Ellington, and others
