Born and raised in Puerto Rico, he naturally loved music from the tender age of 5. He developed
his gift when his grandmother bought him a small piano, on which he would mimic and play all the tunes he
heard on the radio.
By the age of 15, having never taken even one music lesson, his mother was booking him to entertain guests
at hotels and private events.
When he was 19 yrs. of age, he was accepted at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. By 23 yrs. of age,
he had finished his studies. He majored in arranging and composition with a minor in film scoring and piano
as his main instrument.
After his Berklee years, Lannie has worked only in the music industry. He had never compromised or was tempted to work in any other field other than music. He stuck it out, even during hard times, until he developed his career into what it is today.
For a while, in Los Angeles, he was involved in productions with Kenny Passarelli, bassist for Elton John and produced for the record label: Acid Jazz Records.
In 1994, he opened his own company called LKB music. Later in 2000, LKB formally became known as
Hands in Motion Music Production and Ad Media. He combined music with music productions, arranging,
compositions, consulting, marketing/publicity and a recording studio. This combination of service offerings
became a One-Stop-Shop for the Indie artists.
Lannie developed a unique eclectic style in his arrangements and productions. He
is always re-inventing and creating innovative music styles that are commercially accepted. He also
integrates his multi-instrumentalist skills within many music genres in his productions. You can
appreciate many of his compositions within his own self-produced Latin Jazz albums, but also for those
artists that are looking for original songs to be able to transcend to another level within the industry.
Throughout the years, he has performed at many festivals and concerts such as; Heineken, Ventana Al Jazz
Fest, San Juan Puerto Rico, The Borinquen Jazz Fest, Rumbeando Jazz and Picante Jazz Concert Series,
Jazz del Patio Concerts in Puerto Rico, St. Pete Fridays Jazz Concert Series,(WSJT 91.4), Miami at WDNA's
Fine Arts Concert Series, Clearwater Jazz Holiday Fest, St. Armand Jazz Fest of Sarasota, Florida Summer
Fest 2008, the Florida State Fair 2008 and 2009 and "Viva la Musica", at Seaworld, Orlando and Busch
Gardens-Tampa; The Dali Museum and The Mchaffey Theater. As impressive as this list is, it does not even
close to naming all of his performances.
In the 30 years dedicated to his music, he has won numerous recognitions, certificates and awards for his
song-writing abilities as well as his performances. He has had the honor to share live stages as
pianist/keyboardist with known legendary Latin artists and groups such as: Jose Feliciano, Tito Puente,
Giovanni Hidalgo, Dave Valentin, Papo Vazquez, Rie Akagi, Humberto Ramirez, Luis "Perico" Ortiz, Pedro
Guzman, just to mention a few. He also toured throughout the US and Latin America for internationally known Latin Pop artists such as Ednita Nazario, Victor Manuel and Olga Taon.
While touring with Olga Taon, Lannie participated in the Grammy Winning Album "Olga Viva, Viva Olga", which recorded live at the "House of Blues" as Orlando, Florida. Album won as Tropical Album of the Year (2000)
At present, Lannie has headquartered his business in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. He continues to
perform live and keeps himself busy with productions and his business.
Lannie produced his first CD album, "Hands In Motion- Latin Jazz," which was released in 2009 and
sold thousands of copies. It was in the top 100 hits at over 33 Jazz radio stations across the nation, Latin America,
Japan, Canada and others. His second CD album, "En la Cima" (At the Top) was released in April 2011. His
third Latin Jazz album, "Nomenclatura", was released in May 2014 through his own Indie Label, Hands in
Motion Music. You can find Lannie Battistini on the internet worldwide.
Lannie's God-given gifts as a piano virtuoso, a multi-instrumentalist, producer, arranger, composer and
songwriter can only convey to the listener the true meaning of letting the love for music flow from his Creator
through his fingertips.
