We had a small party on the water and decided steel drums would go with our travel/beach theme. This was absolutely and understatement; this band created a vibe that our guests and even other patrons of the venue LOVED. No one wanted them to stop, including us!
They were professional before, during and after the event. Extremely easy to work with and communication was seamless. We will definitely be using this band again and referring to our friends!

About Kutterzband
Founded in the 1990s by Caribbean music pioneer and saxophone virtuoso Gerald Rampersad, Kutterzband has been bringing authentic Caribbean entertainment to audiences throughout New York for over three decades.
Today, the band is led by Gerald's son, Jason Rampersad, continuing a family legacy of professional live music and cultural celebration. Whether you're planning a wedding, cocktail hour, corporate event, private party, festival, or cultural celebration, Kutterzband delivers the perfect blend of Caribbean energy and musical versatility.
Our performances feature Steel Drums, Live Vocals, Guitar, and Percussion, with repertoire spanning Caribbean, Indo-Caribbean, and American favorites including:

Kutterzband consists of Jason Rampersad (Steel Drums/Guitar), Shamelah Rampersad (Lead Vocals), and Teresa (Lead Vocals/Percussion).
Over the years, the band has performed for organizations and venues including Lehman College, South Street Seaport, the Village of Great Neck, the Village of Bayville, and the New York Hall of Science. They have also been featured on the television program Caribbean Spotlight and remain a favorite live act at Singh's Roti Shop in Queens, NY.

Additional booking notes
We provide all equipment needed for the performance. Clients are only required to provide access to power and appropriate weather protection (such as a tent or covered area) for outdoor events. For outdoor events, a flat, stable performance area and protection from rain are required for the safety of the performers and instruments.
Influences and inspiration
Our biggest influence is our founder, Gerald Rampersad, whose work helped shape the sound of modern Caribbean music. His arrangements and collaborations with artists such as Super Blue, Rikki Jai, and JMC Triveni continue to influence our performances today. We also draw inspiration from Caribbean legends including Mighty Sparrow, Lord Kitchener, David Rudder, Byron Lee & The Dragonaires, and Machel Montano, while incorporating elements of Jazz, Pop, R&B, and Rock to create a versatile and engaging live show.
