About
I was fortunate to have taken private lessons at a very young age with an adjunct faculty member at the Berklee College of Music in Boston for several years. I learned jazz, rock, and blues, big band, country, and orchestral. In addition, I marched with a world-class competitive drum and bugle corps for eight years as a marching multi-tenor and snare drummer, learning in-depth rudimental drumming. This unique combination offers a well-trained musician who understands complementing the musical genre, rather than dominating.
I can write and read drumming charts; however, I prefer to learn and understand a song entirely, rather than read music. It is vitally important a drummer understand the rhythm of an arrangement, to include the rhythm of the melody, the vocals, and most importantly, to parallel the bass player and or lower instrumental voices.
I currently teach at the Campanile Center for the Arts, in Minocqua, WI.
