When booking me for a keynote, workshop, or UNLIT Leadership Event, here’s what you can expect in terms of technical requirements:

1. Lighting:
Stage Lighting: Proper stage lighting is key to ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience. Ideally, the lighting should be bright and focused on me as the main speaker. A well-lit stage creates the right atmosphere for energy and focus.
Ambient Lighting: If the event involves interaction or a more intimate setting, having adjustable ambient lighting will help create a welcoming environment.
Spotlight: If the event is large and I’m addressing a crowd in a theater-style setting, a spotlight focused on me during my session is highly recommended. This will ensure I’m the focal point for the audience.
2. Sound:
Microphone: A wireless lapel or handheld microphone is preferred to allow me full freedom to move around and engage with the audience. If the venue is larger, a wireless headset mic would be ideal to ensure clear, consistent sound throughout the room.
Speakers: The venue should be equipped with high-quality, even sound distribution speakers that ensure the entire audience can hear clearly, whether it’s in the back or the front row. Sound checks should be done prior to the session to guarantee the best sound quality.
Audio Support: If my performance or workshop includes music, audio clips, or sound effects, the sound system should allow for clear playback with sufficient volume and clarity to support engagement.
3. Stage/Room Setup:
Size of Stage: The stage should be large enough for me to move freely and interact with the audience. A minimum stage size of 12’ x 12’ (or 10’ x 15’ for larger events) is recommended for larger groups.
Audience Layout: The audience should be arranged in a theater or seminar style with clear sightlines. For workshops, a U-shaped or round table layout is ideal for interactive discussions.
Video Projection: If visuals, slides, or videos are used during my sessions (I often include impactful slides for key insights), the venue should have large, clear projection screens visible from all parts of the room. Please ensure the projector and screens are tested and working in advance. If using a PowerPoint or similar presentation software, the remote clicker should be available.
4. Video and Photography:
Live Streaming: For virtual events, the setup should include stable internet access and appropriate streaming equipment to ensure smooth live broadcasts. This includes webcams, high-definition video quality, and audio clarity for remote attendees.
Photography: Photography is encouraged for promotional purposes. If the event is recorded or photographed, I request that I be informed in advance so I can give clear direction for shots or angles.
Video Recording: For events where content is recorded for later use (such as webinars, training modules, or social media), a multi-camera setup with good lighting will ensure professional-grade footage.
5. Technical Staff:
AV Technician: A dedicated AV technician should be present during the session to handle all tech setups, sound adjustments, and troubleshoot any issues. It’s crucial that someone on-site is available for immediate response if there are any technical difficulties during my performance.
Soundcheck: I’ll require a soundcheck before the event starts to ensure everything is working properly. This can be done about 30-45 minutes prior to the event.
6. Miscellaneous:
Green Room: For in-person events, having a green room with basic amenities like water, snacks, and a place to rest before or after my session is always appreciated. Please ensure that there is a private space for me to prepare, dress, and review any notes.
Seating: Comfortable, ergonomic seating is recommended for workshops that run for several hours to keep the audience engaged. For in-person sessions, the seating should be arranged to allow easy access to stage and to encourage active participation during the event.
7. Internet Requirements for Virtual Events:
Wi-Fi Connection: For virtual events, a high-speed internet connection with at least 20 Mbps upload and download speed is essential to ensure smooth delivery of the presentation.
Backup Connection: If possible, it’s a good idea to have a backup internet connection in case of any technical difficulties during the session.
8. Power Requirements:
Power Outlets: I’ll need access to reliable power outlets for equipment like laptops, presenters, and other devices. Ideally, extension cords and power strips should be provided for all tech equipment.
Backup Power Supply: If the event space is large, a backup generator or battery-powered equipment may be necessary to avoid disruptions in case of power failure.
