Trained professionally as a collaborator who plays often with ensembles and small groups, Kari specializes in contemporary music. Her education allows her to learn and perform high level classical and theater music as well as perfect popular music.

We worked with Kari to provide music for our wedding ceremony. This was an outdoor ceremony on a windy, relatively chilly day. Despite the undoubtedly cold fingers and having to overcome the interference from wind, Kari delivered a great performance that helped make our day special.
It was great working with Kari leading up to the wedding day. She was able to provide suggestions where we were unsure, find the correct renditions of songs we wanted, and communicated with us to make sure everything was going the way we wanted. I'd highly recommend Kari for anyone's wedding services.

My (now)wife and I hired Kari to play piano for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. She was incredibly easy to work with and gave us a list of what moments we should have songs chosen for. We had our heart's set on some modern and folk pieces for the ceremony which were not originally for piano but Kari did amazing renditions of all of them. I had several people throughout the night say how much they enjoyed our pianist. I cannot recommend Kari enough for any event you have in the future, she made our special day perfect.

This was my first time using this site to search for local musicians - Kari was very quick to respond, and was very knowledgable about the church we were having our ceremony to assist in things going smoothly. Although we decided to go with another musician through family connection, Kari would've been our top choice for picking on here due to her quick response, reasonable quote, and knowledge of our local ceremony venue!

What to expect
I am not only a performer, but a seasoned planner. My extensive knowledge of music (in MANY styles and genres!) helps me put together a playlist that will best benefit your event and help you achieve your vision for any event. Because I am able to arrange and pick out music by ear, tweaking particular pieces to sound just the way you want them gives you the perfect sound – something that can't be achieved with just an iPod!
About
Kari is a professional pianist, working both in academic and freelance performance. Her day job allows her to perform with and be a vocal coach to rising young theater actors. From Kari:
"My favorite type of music to play is the kind you choose! I'm fluent in classical, musical theater, and contemporary/popular music. Daily, I work with theater and contemporary music. I have performed classical music for solo and group performances throughout the Midwest."
Since 2012, Kari has been a go-to musician for customized weddings. She is familiar with non-religious ceremonies, Christian ceremonies, and Catholic mass. Regularly, she is hired to perform at dinners, cocktail hours, and holiday gatherings.
Additional booking notes
Indoor venues WITH a piano: the instrument must be tuned and in good playing condition. If light will be low, I need to know so that I can bring an iPad instead of paper music.
Indoor venues WITHOUT a piano: I will provide my electric keyboard/amplification setup for an additional fee. Electricity must be readily available.
Outdoor venues: Electricity must be readily available and I will provide my electric keyboard/amplification setup for an additional fee. Electricity must be readily available. Venues that provide generators must ensure they are QUIET or else your music will not be heard.
