Overview
July Sun is the musical partnership of Helena Rose and Joey Brown, two Western North Carolina musicians with deep Appalachian roots. Helena grew up in Waynesville, and Joey in Asheville. After meeting through the Asheville based band, Holler Choir, their shared love of Appalachian music, close harmony, and traditional string-band playing grew into both a musical and personal partnership. Blending Appalachian tradition with Americana influences and heartfelt songwriting, July Sun creates warm, authentic performances with clawhammer banjo, rhythmic guitar, and harmonies that bring people together and leave a lasting impression at any festival, wedding, or private event.

July 30, 2026Lovely Duet
July Sun performed at our annual Sorghum Harvest, and they could not have been more perfect for the event. Helena and Joey were on time, friendly and personable, and played beautifully together. The general crowd volume subdued as soon as they started playing. Everyone actually paid attention and wanted to *listen.* They were a big hit.
